Base Class: Warlock
You have formed a pact with an unknown entity from an alternate version of the Far Realm. The entity's realm is an empty void filled with nothing but the cold darkness of space. In exchange for power, you must feed this entity your own warmth and vitality. You can call on your patron to harness the might of the void to control the battlefield and harm your enemies, but must be careful to not let its never-ending hunger consume you.
Level 3: Hungering Void Spells
The magic of your patron ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Warlock level specified in the Hungering Void Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Warlock Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Fog Cloud, Ice Knife, Blindness/Deafness, Augury |
| 5 | Blink, Hunger of Hadar |
| 7 | Ice Storm, Dimension Door |
| 9 | Wall of Force, Cone of Cold |
Level 3: Chill of the Void
The chilling presence of your patron's power enhances your attacks. When you deal damage to a creature with an attack, you can reduce their movement speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. This effect cannot stack with itself or other movement speed reduction effects such as the Slow weapon mastery.
When you inflict this effect onto a creature, you can double the movement speed reduction to 20 feet but you will take 2d6 Cold damage. This damage ignores Resistance to Cold damage.
Level 6: Dark Dominion
When you cast Hunger of Hadar, you open a gateway to your patron's realm instead. The spell now does Force damage instead of Acid damage and you can take a Bonus Action on your turn during the spell's duration to move the spell effect to any space you can see within 30 feet.
In addition, when you cast a Warlock spell that affects an area, you can designate a number of creatures within 60 feet of you to be unaffected by the spell and ignore its effects for its entire duration (no action required). This number is equal to your Charisma modifier. You take 1d6 Cold damage for each creature you designate. This damage ignores Resistance to Cold damage.
Level 10: Hungering Darkness
When a creature affected by a spell you have cast makes a saving throw you can take a Reaction to call on the aid of your patron to impose a negative modifier to the roll equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of -1). You take 2d6 Cold damage if the target fails the saving throw, but it takes 2d6 Cold damage if it succeeds. The Cold damage dealt to you ignores Resistance to Cold damage.
Level 14: Awakened Void
You can now call on the power of your patron more effectively and can request their direct aid in battle. When you cast Hunger of Hadar, you can modify it so that it doesn’t require Concentration. Once you use this feature to cast the spell in this way, you cannot do so again until you finish a Short Rest.
In addition, while Hunger of Hadar is active, you can take a Magic action to beseech your patron to violently close the gateway. All creatures within the spell's area take 12d6 Force damage. The spell then ends and you take 6d6 Cold damage. This damage ignores Resistance to Cold damage.

Posted Nov 7, 2025This Subclass is themed around the cold darkness of space and the cosmic horror elements associated with space. It has a heavy focus on enemy control and sacrifice, giving the player more control over their spells at the cost of their own vitality. The Subclass also grants special benefits to one of my favorite Warlock spells [spells]Hunger of Hadar{/spells], making it a spell you can use in more situations.
Please give it a try and let me know how it goes. I hope you enjoy it.
NOTE: Because D&D Beyond does not allow you to share a Subclass that uses a spell not from the free 2024 Basic Rules, unfortunately Hunger of Hadar is not automatically added to your D&D Beyond Character Sheet. The Hungering Void Spells feature makes sure to point this out so you don't forget you have the spell.
