Base Class: Barbarian
Barbarians who walk the Path of the Brutal Brawler are ferocious warriors who fight with their bare hands and teeth as well as anything they can get their hands on. A barbarian of this Path stomps and smashes across the battlefield, hurling foes into each other and howling fear into the hearts of their enemies. These warriors live for combat and crave violence for the sheer thrill of it.
Some barbarians of this Path wield a knife or a spear, while others battle with a greataxe or maul. Many wield no weapons at all, fighting with their fists and whatever they find themselves holding at the moment.
Feral Brawler
At 3rd level, you learn to harness your raw fury without the need for advanced weapons or tools.
When you make a weapon attack that uses Strength, you can use 1d8 for the attack's damage dice instead of its normal damage dice. This increases to 1d12 for a melee attack made as part of a reaction or Attack action, unless you are wearing a shield, attacking with a finesse or reach weapon, or using two-weapon fighting.
In addition, you gain proficiency with improvised weapons and proficiency in your choice of either Athletics, Intimidation, or Survival.
Brutal Rampage
Starting at 3rd level, once on each of your turns when you hit with a melee weapon attack while you're raging, you can use a bonus action to cause the attack to deal 1d4 bonus damage. If you do, you can also cause one of the following effects of your choice:
- Up to two other creatures of your choice within 5 feet of the target take 1d4 bludgeoning damage.
- The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be knocked prone.
- The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed a number of feet away from you equal to 5 × your Strength modifier (minimum of 5 feet).
The saving throw DC for this feature is equal to 8 + your Strength modifier + your proficiency bonus. The damage increases from 1d4 to 1d6 at 5th level, to 1d8 at 9th level, to 1d10 at 13th level, and to 1d12 at 17th level.
Ferocious Agility
At 6th level, your battle ferocity propels you to greater speed and agility. Your jumping distance is doubled, and while you're raging, you always determine your jumping distance as if you have a running start.
Also, when you use your Brutal Rampage feature, you have additional options to choose for your effect:
- You move up to half your speed without provoking opportunity attacks. You can enter enemy spaces, but you can't end your movement there.
- You attempt to escape from a grapple. If you succeed, the creature you escaped from takes bludgeoning damage equal to 1d4 + half your barbarian level.
Ruthless Endurance
At 10th level, your ferocious spirit drives you to new heights of endurance. You have advantage on ability checks and saving throws made to resist exhaustion, and you determine your carrying capacity as if you were one size category larger than you are. While you have less than 6 levels of exhaustion, you suffer the effects of exhaustion as if your exhaustion level is halved.
In addition, when you take damage that would reduce you to 0 hit points while you are raging, if the damage is no more than twice your barbarian level, you can choose to remain at 1 hit point and gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your barbarian level + your Strength modifier that last until the end of your next turn.
Once you do this, you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
Dreadful Rampage
Starting at 14th level, whenever you use your Brutal Rampage feature, you can choose two effects to cause instead of only one (you choose the order in which they occur). Also, you have an additional option to choose for your effects for that feature:
- One creature of your choice within 30 feet of you that can see or hear you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened of you until the end of your next turn. On a successful save, a creature can't be frightened by this feature for 1 hour.
