Base Class: Monk
Some who are born blind end up joining a monastery to learn to adapt to being blind. Some are able to attune to their other 4 senses so well that their blindness is not so much as a negative, but a gift. They also have leanred to expertly control their own Ki and read the Ki of others to negate the negatives of being blind. These are the Blind Monks.
It is not required to be naturally blind to have been taught this tradition, however those who are not blind and have followed this tradition went through their training with a blindfold on. In order to make use of any of these abilities you must be blind. If you use a blindfold, you must spend 1 hour after applying the blindfold to regain you bearings.
Background Feature: Blind
You may forgo the feature received from you background to instead take the Blind Background feature.
You were born blind. Growing up you have learned to overcome your blindness with your other senses. Some use a quarterstaff to be able to walk, others have learned to master their hearing so that a quarterstaff is not needed. You gain blindsight up to 5ft. Additionally you gain advantage perception checks that do not rely on sight.
Ki Sense
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to manipulate your Ki to overcome the negatives of being blind granting the following benefits.
-You gain proficiency in the perception checks that do not rely on sight - if you already have proficiency in the skill, you add double your proficiency bonus to checks you make with it.
-If you have blind-sight it increases by 5ft, otherwise you gain 5ft of blind-sight. At 6th level and again at 11th and 17th level your blind-sight increases by 5ft.
-At the start of combat, you may make a DC 17 perception check to negate the effects of being blind. Additionally, if you succeed the check, any spell or ability that requires sight may be used and you know the location of any enemy within 60ft so long as it is possible to hear them. At 11th level the distance increases to 120ft.
-You may spend a Ki point to automatically succeed on the perception check to negate disadvantage from being blind.
-You automatically succeed on discerning illusions that rely on sight
Ki Defense
At 6th level, you have learned to read the flow of your opponent's attacks based on the flow of their Ki. When an opponent hits you with a melee attack and you are not surprised, you can use your reaction to halve the damage you would take from the attack. If the opponent misses, you may use your reaction to make an attack of oppurtunity.
Tremorsense
Your extensive practice of discerning the location of people without sight has taught you to understand and read the vibrations in the ground and walls granting you 30ft tremor sense. At 17th level, your tremor sense increases to 60ft.
"A creature with tremorsense can detect and pinpoint the origin of vibrations within a specific radius, provided that the monster and the source of the vibrations are in contact with the same ground or substance. Tremorsense can't be used to detect flying or incorporeal creatures."
Expert Ki Defense
At 11th level, you are so attuned to your Ki and the Ki that resides in those around you that you have mastered dodging. You no longer need to spend a Ki Point to make use of the Patient Defense ability.
Ki Blast
At 17th level, you connection to Ki is greater than most that you have learned to channel your Ki into a blast of energy. You can spend 5 Ki points to channel this blast as an action. This blast can take 1 of 2 forms.
-15ft radius centering on you
-30ft cone
The blast does 6d10 force damage to any creature in range and the creature must make a Strength save or be knocked back 10ft. Creatures that are Huge or bigger have advantage on the save.
