Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

In a past life, you were a paladin. When you died, the powers you served, or perhaps your own force of will, decided that you weren't done with this world. Your soul was transferred to a new body so you might continue your quest.

Tenets:

Bear the Burden- I will shoulder the weight of the world so that others will not have to.

Leave a Legacy- I have been given a second chance, this time I will make it count.

Follow the Plan-  A path has been chosen for me, I will follow it to completion.

Empathy- I do not know what challenges others face, but I will help them however I can.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Retribution of the Light. When you use your divine smite you can use your channel divinity to extend the smite to another creature within 30 feet of the original target. The new target takes half the damage of the smite.

Find the Wicked. As an action, you present your holy symbol and speak a prayer that reveals the location of a creature. Choose one point within 60 feet, each creature in a 20 foot cube must make a dexterity saving throw or become highlighted in magical light. Targets affected can’t benefit from being invisible and attacks against them have advantage.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Oath of Devotion Spells

Revived Aura

Starting at 7th level you emanate an aura of protection from deathly magic. Friendly creatures within 10ft of you gain resistance to necrotic damage. This aura extends to 30ft at 18th level. In addition you gain the following benefits

  • You don’t need to eat, drink, or breathe.
  • You don’t need to sleep, but must spend at least 4 hours in an inactive, motionless state. In this State you remain semiconscious, and can hear as normal.
  • Memories from your past life resurface in your dreams.

Life from Death

Beginning at 15th level, whenever you take your first melee attack against a creature on your turn, you regain half the damage dealt as hit points. This only applies to weapon damage and is not affected by Divine Smite, Channel Divinity, or spells. Undead and Constructs do not give this benefit.

Second Chance

At 20th level, when you take damage that would drop you to 0 hp, you can use a reaction to activate this ability. For the next minute whenever you would drop to 0 hp, you can choose to instead drop to 1hp. After the Minute is over you gain a point of exhaustion. This ability cannot be used again until after a long rest.
