Base Class: Monk
The Way of the Thunderstorm tradition allow Monks to draw power from storms to create potent effects that can disorient enemies and assist allies. They can summon storms to increase their power, deafen and blind their opponents, and help their allies.
Born of Thunder
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you:
- Gain resistance to Thunder and Lightning damage.
- You also gain the ability to use your action to summon storms. Enemies in the storm have disadvantage on attacks or saves that require sight, and have to make a successful Dexterity saving throw or take 1d6+Your Dex modifier Lightning damage and will paralyzed for the duration of the storm. If they are successful they will take half damage and won't be paralyzed. Enemies repeat the roll every turn while the storm is active. Storms last for 5 minutes and can be summoned an amount of times equal to your Wisdom modifier per long rest.
Aura of the Thunderstorm
When Way of Thunder Monks reach the 6th level, they gain a 10 ft. aura that increases the movement speed of you and other friendly creatures by 10 and gives them advantage on Dexterity saves. Enemies that enter your aura will take 2d8 Thunder damage. Enemies must make a Dexterity saving throw equal to your ki save, and if they are successful they take half damage.
Storm's Fury
At level 11, Way of Thunder monks gain the following abilities:
Flurry of Bolts: Spend 3 ki points to send out 5 bolts of lightning that automatically hits enemies and deals 3d8 +Your Dex modifier in Lightning damage. Enemies that are hit are blinded.
Thunder Whips: Spend 2 ki points to summon dual whips made of lightning that have a 25 ft. range and deal 3d8 +Your Dex modifier in Thunder damage. Enemies that are hit are deafened.
Armor of Bolts: Spend 3 ki points to give 2 allies armor made of lightning that can last up to five minutes based on your concentration. Physical ranged attacks that hit this armor will be deflected and Energy attacks will have their damage reduced by half. Melee attacks will cause the attacker to take 2d8 Lightning damage and become paralyzed.
Monks can also spend a ki point to make their attacks do 2d8 Thunder damage for a minute. You can only use this ability an amount of times equal to your wisdom modifier per long rest.
Perfect Storm
When Way of Thunder Monks reach the 17th level they gain the following abilities.
All attacks that utilize Thunder and Lightning damage do an additional die of damage, bypasses damage immunity, and give enemies disadvantage on Dex saves
You also become fully immune to Thunder and Lightning damage.
