Base Class: Monk
Through extensive meditation and intense training, monks who choose this tradition are able to surpass the need for a sense as simple as sight. Sacrificing their own vision, these monks have heightened their other four senses to the point where they can experience the world around them by feeling the ki energy that flows through all living creatures. Similar to the echolocation of bats, the Watcher can sense the location of vague shapes, entities, and structures, effectively causing them to interact with the world as if they had never lost their sight. The Blind Watcher is also a master of multiple monastic stances, creating a perfect balance between rage and peace, offense and defense. Through switching stances to fit each situation, these monks can out damage the most powerful of barbarians, and outmaneuver the most dextrous of rogues.
The Way of the Blind Watcher is a tradition that focuses on the balance between three different powerful stances: Wrath, Calm, and Divinity. The Wrath Stance is a heavily offensive stance, sacrificing defense through going into an all-out rage in order to dish out as much damage as possible. In contrast, the Calm stance is heavily focused on tranquility and focus, increasing mobility as well as evasive maneuvers while sacrificing some damage output. Divinity is the most powerful stance of the three that the Watcher has access to. This stance, though hard to access and harder master, increases all damage output even further than the Wrath stance, while also maintaining the mobility and defensiveness of the Calm stance.
Blindsense
Starting at 3rd level when you choose this tradition, you are able to surpass the need for your sense of sight. You remain able to "see" the world around you through feeling the ki energy flowing throughout living creatures, as well as sensing the size, shape, and location of any objects or structures within 120ft of you.
Eruption and Vigilance
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain the ability to shift between two powerful stances.
Eruption: As a bonus action you can shift stances into the Wrath stance. While in this stance, any attacks you make will deal double damage as if they were critical hits. However, your AC will be reduced to 10, and enemies within 30ft of you will need to make a wisdom saving throw or be provoked into attacking you on their turn. This uses your Ki save DC.
Vigilance: As a bonus action you can shift stances into the Calm stance. While in this stance, your Armor Class is increased by 3, and your movement will be increased by 10. However, you will only be able to make one attack per turn.
You can exit either stance through any of the following: Switching to another stance as a bonus action, using your bonus action to return to your normal stance, or if you drop below 0 hit points.
Stance Features
Through intense training with both of your stances, you have the ability to amplify their effects to the extreme using your own ki energy. Starting at 6th level you gain the following features:
Follow up: While in the Wrath stance, upon making the attack action, you can spend two ki points to cause your next attack to automatically deal maximum damage.
Swivel: While in the Calm stance, if you make no movement on your turn, you can expend one ki point to increase your Armor Class by an additional two points.
Devotion
The Divinity stance is a very powerful and hard to maintain stance, channeling power through the Watcher for a short period of time, increasing all of their abilities to the max.
Each turn, as a bonus action, you can choose to expend one ki point to repeat a monastic mantra, increasing your connection to your own internal ki energy. Upon using this feature a total of five times, the monk will shift into the Divinity stance.
Upon entering the Divinity stance, spectral purple eyes will float around you, and your own eyes will open up, glowing with a bright purple hue. All attacks while in this stance will be rolled with advantage, automatically deal max damage, and be doubled as if they were critical hits.
This effect lasts until the start of your next turn, and can only be used once per long rest.
Master Reality
Your work and effort that has been put into each of your stances have caused you to become a master in all of them. Upon reaching 17th level, you gain the following features:
Judgment: While in the Wrath stance, you can use an action to channel 5 ki points and instantly kill any creature that is of a CR equal to half of your monk level rounded up, or any creature that is at less than 50hp. If you attempt to use this ability and it fails, no ki points will be expended but it will count as your action.
Like Water: While in the Calm stance, your Armor Class is increased by an extra 2, to a total of 5.
Nirvana: You can now enter the Divinity stance an unlimited number of times. However, it still requires the same number of ki points.
