Base Class: Monk
You have been trained in the ways of Couriers. You know the ancient secrets and purposes of Couriers, an occupation that is often looked down on. You send messages, any kind of message, a love letter, a decree of a new law, a threat, in any form, written, spoken, beaten. You are exceptional at your job, and nothing can stop you. Most Couriers work in their role, delivering messages across nations and kingdoms, stopping for barely a rest, but there are those who “employ themselves”, sending their own messages to people. Whatever their preference, people should know to be wary around Couriers, they could be bringing good news, bad news, or the end of your life.
Verbal Delivery
Starting at 3rd level, your deliveries are not restricted to physical objects, thus you must be able to appropriately deliver the consignment.
You gain proficiency in Intimidation or Persuasion.
Adept Traveler
Starting at 3rd level, you have become adept at moving and traveling long distances, allowing you to avoid the pitfalls many others may experience.
You gain the following benefits while traveling for an hour or more:
- Difficult terrain does not slow your group’s travel.
- Your group cannot become lost except by magical means.
- If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.
Job to Finish
Starting at 6th level, your commitment to the job has made you more determined than many thought possible, as you no longer allow anything to stop you.
When you’re prone, you can stand up by spending 5 feet of movement, rather than half your speed.
Additionally, when you fail a check or saving throw against being grappled or restrained, you can use your reaction to spend 2 ki points to instead succeed on the check or saving throw.
Adept Movement
Starting at 11th level, you are swift, so swift that even the most perilous places put no damper on your movement.
Your movement speed increases by 10 feet and you gain swimming and climbing speed equal to your walking speed.
Additionally, when you take the Dash action on your turn, you can ignore difficult terrain until the end of your turn.
Blurring Speed
Starting at 11th level, you can move at speeds that baffle others' senses, making you slippery and difficult to track.
When you take the dash action, you can grant yourself a bonus to your AC equal to your proficiency bonus until the start of your turn, or until you take damage from any source. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining expended uses at the end of a long rest.
Additionally, the first attack you make after taking the dash action has advantage.
Supersonic
Starting at 17th level, your movements combine with such incredible speed and force that your running creates explosions of force.
Immense Speed. When you take the Dash action, you can spend a number of Ki points up to your proficiency bonus to increase your total movement speed by 10 feet for each ki point spent. This applies after the bonus movement speed from the Dash action.
Sonic Boom. When you take the Dash action and increase your speed with Immense Speed, you can create a 30-foot radius of explosive force where you begin. Each creature in the radius must make a Constitution saving throw. A creature takes 1d10 Thunder damage for each Ki point spent for Immense Speed and is pushed 10 feet away from you on a failure. On a successful save, a creature takes half damage and is not pushed.
Changelog
2.0 - Removed "Ignore difficult terrain" from Adept Traveler.
- Overhaul of Job to Finish. Liked the ability but having advantage and being able to escape with ease was a bit redundant so changed it to be more focused.
- Added "Ignore difficult terrain" when Dash action is used to Adept Movement. Restricting the immunity makes it more manageable for DMs and attaching it with this feature makes more sense, I think.
- Replaced Same Day Shipping with Supersonic. Same Day Shipping was just not a good ability, it was an overcomplicated Haste that didn't really add anything interesting, Supersonic will hopefully remedy this.
2.1 - Added Blurring Speed. The class was fitting the niche it was designed to fit but was feeling lackluster in combat compared to other monk subclasses, especially since its primary combat ability is its final ability, thus this feature was added in order to help the subclass keep pace with other subclasses.
