Coin stored in a chest is ignored for weight calculations.
Steps to reproduce: - Disable "Ignore Weight" - Enable "Put coins in containers" - Ensure you have a chest - Record your weights for chest and character - Add 1000 coin (20 lbs.) to a chest - Compare your weights for chest and character
All coins in any container are currently ignored for their weight. It’s a current system limitation.
Do you have a source/quote for that information?
Yes, the character sheet. Put coins in any container and their weight won’t count against your encumbrance. I know there is a formal statement of that somewhere, but I’m not gonna spend my time looking for it. You, however, can if you wish.
Since both containers, and putting coins in containers aren't in beta anymore, it'd be cool to get that bug fixed.
We're starting new campaign soon, where we intend to have encumbrance be an important factor, and this is just an annoying limitation, that requires annyong workarounds to track coinage in containers, especially since custom items cannot have decimals in weight/cost fields.
For now I have to use homebrewed magic flasks as coins (so they can stack lol), put in the containers, and count how many coins I have at any given time, to reflect how much each of my pouches/boxes actually weigh..

I use customized stacks of gems like Agates to represent coins. You can use decimals when customizing the weights and costs of non-custom items.
