It does it if you go to create one as well. It seems to be happening on every weapon, regular +x weapons or otherwise. Here is a random +1 whip I just made up that is affected by this as well.
This still seems to be a bug. I was just trying to make a weapon based on a piercing type but with slashing damage and was unable to do so. And the slashing weapons don't have the same amount of damage. This was for my DM in a homebrew campaign who wants a "Saber" that's basically a rapier with slashing damage type (but still finesse, etc...). Are there any workarounds for this since the damage amount isn't right for the base item (nor the proficiency needed)? Also, I'm new to searching for this stuff - how do I look at the status for a given bug?

I am currently trying to change the damage type of a weapon from slashing to piercing, however, it appears the relevant modifiers are not in there.

Can you paste the URL to the homebrew item so I can take a look?

Flagging as a bug - I'd say for now you probably would need to start with a base item of the same type to get it to work.
