I'm attempting to make a simple magic weapon but running into a few snags as this is my first time. The weapon I created is a greataxe that does 2d10 extra frost (cold) damage on a successful hit and freezes (paralyzes) the target for 1 round on any critical hit. The issues i am having are: 1. the weapon has no weight and im not sure where to edit or add that. 2. The attack bonus is not present when added to a character sheet. 3. The additional condition effect is also not present on the character sheet. Am I overlooking something? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
In my first few attempts at making magic items, I accidentally forgot to set the "attunement" properly. Does the item require attunement, and is it attuned on the sheet? Also, is the specific bonus set to have attunement? Some how I ended up with a magic item that had bonuses with and without attunement at one point :p
Thank you so much for the link! I will be sure to check that out. I was unaware of the weight rule. The item doesnt really have attunement at this point. It's more like a basic enchantment on the axe that anyone could use. Thanks for the responses! Awesome!
among the tutorials, i could not find how to make a simple addition of a "+2" to a weapon in the modifiers section, giving a weapon +2 to hit and bonus damage. i have tried many combinations on my own and could not solve the problem. all the changes i could make would effect all the other weapons stats as well but not the sole item itself

The best way to learn how to do such things is to find a standard item that does this, create a homebrew copy and see what modifiers it has.
In this case, you could create a copy of a +2 Long Sword for example.
How would I add an ability to a weapon that said "When you hit with this weapon, you can make it a Hungering Strike. The target takes an additional 6d6 necrotic damage, and you regain hit points equal to the additional necrotic damage dealt. You cannot use this ability again until you complete a short or long rest." And have the "Use" button show up on the character sheet or is that not yet possible?

Also, magic items have no weight associated with them unless it's mentioned in the text. Like in the DMG.

I am also having trouble, I'm trying to make a longbow that does 2d10, but it only shows up as 1d8.

"We got this, no problem! I'll take the twenty on the left - you guys handle the one on the right!"🔊
Thank you. i found out if you set the modifier to "Bonus- Magic", it will give the bonus for magic weapons.
