Hi there devs and all, After the update, one of my players pointed out that it's not possible to put Custom Items in their inventories into containers. I've checked this issue and also wasn't able to make it.
I also want to give a feedback about the weight of custom items. I use them all the time for my players to hold items that I didn't add as a "homebrew item" and when they should have weight on them so they don't use the other items box and carry unweighted items in their inventory. But, custom items can't have floating numbers as weights. So I need to use 1 for minimum. Which doesn't make sense for small items such as random rings or unique cards. Could this be fixed somehow or worked around?
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
In this week’s Dev Update, when they discussed inventory, they explained that custom items can’t be added to containers yet. Because behind the scenes they are a distinct them from equipment. THe backend developers are working on that currently (one of the backend Devs was on the update). Once they have it sorted, the front end devs will have work to do to bring the feature to us. So it is planned.
@Haravikk: Tharky is talking about the “custom item” feature on the character sheet, not homebrew nor “other possessions.”

Thanks for the clarification. I was surprised to find this feature missing.

Thanks for the info, I didn't see the update on that :)

By custom items do you mean notes added to the "Other Possessions" section? Because customised and homebrew items seem to work fine for me?
It would be interesting if containers could have their own other possessions section note, but would that clutter up the UI even more?
Personally I usually only use that section temporarily, and then just add a similar item and customise it later.
