I can't publish my homebrew subclass (Blood Sorcerer)
I assume this is because I created options at levels 2, 3 and 20. Only to change how the font of magic, metamagic, and Sorcerous Restoration work. As they don't work well with the subclass concept. Changes are minor. Everything but spellcasting shows up just fine on the Charactor sheet. Including most of the overwritten stuff. Like Font of magic. Though flat giving hit points seems to be bugged. Looking at the Guide I found here. I found it odd that I had to select NO for the can cast spell drop down. But I tried all 3 options to no avail.
Can't publish subclass... Because of broken class rules?!?!
Can't get set amount hit points bonus to show up.
Level scaling HP work just fine, but level scaling by class doesn't exist. (Or at least I couldn't find it.) Looks fixed now
Can't find ways to create healing effects.
Description menu sub-navigation doesn't work. (For example: Clicking metamagic brings up its description. clicking a metamagic item in the description like twinned spell. brings up the exact same description. Really is problematic for custom class features. Another example: if you click the link for the char above. Click sorcerer origin. Than click blood magic. It takes you to sorcerer origin instead of taking you to blood back. The arrows at the top of the sheet may work but sense it's the same page over and over again... I'm not sure.)
Check box "Hide in Builder" doesn't work. And once check & saved can't be unchecked. meaning once you save it after unchecking it. Reloading page always shows it checked afterwards. However; the class feature still always shows up in the builder weather the box is checked or not.
Check box "Hide in Sheet" doesn't work. And checking & saving it does absolutely nothing.
Creating a subclass with links to rules doesn't work. Doesn't matter if you refer to things within the site, or not. Shows error that there is a link. Why have an option to create links if no links are allowed? Looks fixed now
Was told to use the many tooltipsinstead of links, but they only work in the forums. And not the on character sheets, or when building a character. Probable not a bug as it says it is for the forums. But I thought I would list it anyways.
Feats don't work when given as a subclass modifier. I don't know if this is a bug with just homebrew content or the official content as well. But when I recreated the tough feat homebrew style. If I manually add the feat using ability point, or the manage Feats on the character sheet it works just fine. But if give it as a subclass option it never shows up in the HP or the character sheet.
You would be correct. You cannot publish a subclass that doesn't follow the level progression of that class' subclasses. You are welcome to use those subclasses privately.
Can you further describe what you are trying to accomplish with these questions? The more detail, the more someone will be able to guide you through the process, or let you know what isn't possible?
Set HP bonus? What are you trying to set? What modifiers are you using?
Healing effects? What are you trying to create?
For the description menu navigation-- Is this related to your homebrew, or separate?
Eh really... All abilities I have tried to create show up in the character sheet. If you can't tell what I am trying to create from that... Well whatever.
For HP. I looked for a long time. I went trough all the different options. In spells actions and modifiers. I could only find HP options in modifiers. In there you get 3 options in total.
Hit points
Hit points per level
Temporary Hit points
Lets say you want to just ad 15 HP at X level. Hit points doesn't do anything. Hit points per level will change the amount at X level. And temporary hit points is something completely different. So is 1/"hit points" meant for healing? I doubt it with the way it is worded. It is just broken. And there is no option to add a healing effect. Unless 1 is the healing effect than there is no way to just add flat HP. Either way options are limited and/or confusing at best.
I think it's stupid. Why not allow people to publish changes they make? How is restricting things to only X level beneficial? If I wanted to make an OP character I would just make the first thing they get at whatever the lowest level is super OP. Like giving them all the different feats available. And maybe even make a few OP feats to add on too. It is a false sense of balance. To me this is a bug. If not a bug in code than at least a bug in design.
To be honest I wanted to make a whole new class, but the tools don't really allow for that. So I tried making an one off sorcerer instead. Either way the tools limit you on purpose. Instead of empowering you to do what you want to do.
I don't have a group to play with. So I am only interested in making content and see what people think. If I can't accomplish that... Than this site is pointless. Well to me anyways. And I don't get why D&D wouldn't want more free fan made content. I understand a lot of it can be crap. And not well designed. Or just strait up OP. But they could add a voting section to help mitigate that. Even with adding restrictions they won't be able to stop it. Instead it just limits people creativity.
D&D Beyond is not a homebrew publication platform, homebrew posted here is meant to be used in campaign. It also has to work with the programming of the character sheet, which is why limitations are put in place to ensure that the character sheet doesn't break due to use of homebrew. Subclasses have a core design in 5E D&D, and D&D Beyond as a licsensor of the official D&D 5th Edition product has reason to uphold that core design.
You mention base classes. This has been confirmed to be on the road map for the future. There is much that is prioritized ahead of homebrew system changes and updates, but in the future you will be able to create your class with your own setting for feature levels not beholden to 5E subclass design.
If you're keenly looking for feedback on your homebrew creations, may I recommend the Homebrew forum within the DDB forums? I have received great, useful feedback on my unpublished creations by posting them there.
It does appear that the modifier type Bonus -> Hit Points is changing nothing on the character sheet for me, too. This looks to be a bug.
I am still not sure what you mean by "healing effects". Do you mean like a limited use feature a character can use to heal hit points? If so, there are no temporary effects in the character sheet, so you would want to create an Action with limited use and the user would add their healed hit points when they choose to use the effect. If this is not what you mean, I apologize for misunderstanding.
That's your opinion. Why even allow anyone to publish anything if that's true? It appears to me you are just white knighting it. With no real logic in your first two paragraphs.
And how am I suppose to ask for feedback on an homebrewed class I can't even publish/Share? I had planned to ask for feedback on it after being able to share it. My homebrew class shows everything correctly on the character sheet. Except for spellcasting, and hit points. I provided the character link as it shows the class I can't publish. And all the bugs there in. I still doubt you even looked at it. But printing the Char sheet shows spellcasting correctly, but not hit points still.
I looked into actions. You can't even create one targeted at self. There is no option for healing, and everything in there is about damage and damage types. How am I suppose to create a class healing feature that can only target self? You can't. You can't even create one targeting something else.
So please... I have been using this program for less than a week. Only created homebrew stuff for less than a day. And I find many problems with it. They all seem to be bugs. Not trying to be rude or anything, but I don't feel very confident in this platform/product. And I really don't feel like trying to explain the problems I see any further. It's clear to me I am going to have to walk you through each bug; step by step; before you understand them. And not my steps... But all the possible steps/ways you can think of, and than explain why it doesn't work. That is too much effort for me. These are all bugs as far as I can tell.
Adding two more items to the list of bugs in the OP.

As to why does the editor allow you to add links? You're free to add as many links as you like to private homebrew for your own use, or use within a campaign.
There are many tooltips that you can use however, which will link to appropriate rules.
Not really. You seem to not even understand them. Go re-read them. It never says making a link to a rule as not allowed. Especial when the rule is a link to dndbeyond page of the WotC rule. Just like how you guys do it in your own subclass creation. Absolutely nothing says this isn't allowed. It talks about links outside of this website, advertisement, and whatnot. But there is no rule against links within D&Dbeyond. Not my fault you don't understand your own rules.
Maybe you should rewrite them. Or fix the bug.
Note: I coped the reference of the rule from a different subclass that was already officially created. If your own content breaks the rules... Why even have them?

This is kind of off topic. But might I suggesting adding tags for Feats, Ability Modifiers, and General Rules (such as spellcasting). If you would rather us use these instead of links. As some of these are some of the links my subclass is getting in trouble for.

The rules on that are simple - you are not allowed links in published homebrew, as per the homebrew rules & guidelines.
As to why does the editor allow you to add links? You're free to add as many links as you like to private homebrew for your own use, or use within a campaign.
There are many tooltips that you can use however, which will link to appropriate rules.

Thank you for pointing out the inconsistency - I hadn't actually noticed that. I'll raise it with staff.
