I have been playing dnd for a few years now, and my last few characters have all been artificers. I absolutely love the class both in the variety of features it provides, as well as the flexibility that you have, able to almost entirely change a lot of core class ability’s over the span of any kind of rests. But among the various ability’s which could each be creatively applied to practically any situation one has alway stuck out to me; Levek 14 Magic item Savant. You can attune to a fourth magic item, and from now on you can use absolutely any items. As incredible as that sounds Just on the surface, I have yet to really find any use in this ability. the Problem is That while a huge pool of items exist, almost all are specifically made for certain classes, offering no benefit and often no use at all to any other class using it. And where there are examples of very unique items That could be applied to an artificer build, from all item library’s I have looked up I have only found a handful, of examples.
Tldr.: I have no idea what magic items I could or should use now that I could choose any of them
Staff of healing - allows an artificer to do a lot of the party healing instead of others.
Staff of the woodlands- pass without trace is huge. not to mention wall of thorns or awaken (WIthout at costly component). Try awakening the party pets and horses.
Robe of the archmagi - increase spell DC by 2. advantage on spells and magical effect saves. you dont need armor infusions any more-- Yes please
or staff of the magi - so many spell options
really any thing that gives a artificer more casting slots is awesome and adds versitility.
How about a Dwarven Thrower? Potentially great with a Gauntlets of Ogre Power infusion or most Battlesmiths. It’s a +3 weapon that does an extra d8 on a throw. Normally usable only by dwarves.
Have you ever heard of a heart stone? It is a magic item that a night hag makes for it self.
“Heartstone: This lustrous black gem allows a night hag to become ethereal while it is in her possession. The touch of a heartstone also cures any disease. Crafting a heartstone takes 30 days.”
While the cure disease part seems like it would work for anyone the ethereal part only works for night hags. With Magic Item Savant an artificer can use it. The rules give no mention of the limits of this item. It can be used as often as you like. Probably not rules as intended but definitely rules as written.
For obscure monster specific items there's also the Mind Lash which requires attunement by a Mind Flayer.
A whip with an extra 2d4 psychic damage on a hit and creatures who take that psychic damage make a DC 15 wisdom save or suffer disadvantage on wisdom, intelligence and charisma saving throws for the next minute is frankly incredible.
It's unfortunate that the Artificer spell list tends to focus on dexterity and constitution saving throws but you can really soften enemies up for other casters this way.
Amulet of the Devout, Cleric or Paladin only, benefits ALL spells of the caster as long as it is worn. So it stacks with Wand of the War Mage / Enhanced Arcane Focus / All-Purpose Tool.
Would this allow the use of spell scrolls of spells not on the Artificer list?
Yep.
You ignore all class, race, spell, and level requirements on attuning to or using a magic item.
A spell being on a spell list is either a class requirement or a spell requirement. And casting from a scroll for a spell a higher level than you have slots for, well that's a spell level requirement so I'd say that counts too.
A 14th level artificer can cast any spell from any spell scroll, regardless of spell list or spell level without the need for an arcana check.
As far as scrolls go you can attempt to use any of them regardless if it's on your list but will still need to make the DC for casting one that is higher than you have spell slots for because that doesn't fall under the things you can bypass.
It states that you ignore all "spell" and "level" requirements but doesn't clarify what kind of "level" it's talking about. There are many things in the game that have levels so what "level" is meant to refer to is ambiguous. Characters have levels. Classes have levels. Spells have levels. And spell slots have levels.
To conclude that the DC for higher level scroll casting isn't included in this is to conclude that a "spell level" requirement is different enough from a "spell" requirement and a "level" requirement in the sense that none of the three have any overlap in a venn diagram.

Not exactly true. Level is a defined term right at the beginning of the PHB in chapter 1. Spell level is also described with its own rules in chapter 10.They even go as far as to call out that spell levels and character levels don't have any direct relationship. Spell slots go out it's way to never use the word level with it. Just something we as the player base have come up with for ease of communication even if it's technically wrong. The slot only becomes "leveled" when a spell or relevant feature is used and the magic is expended. You always find the term 'spell level' even when no spell is being used (Divine smite) and not spell slot level. The only class that is the exception of this rules are warlocks and even then they only use the term spell slot due to how they progress.
So I think it's pretty clear what they mean by level even if the rules themselves are anything but. Is it a silly happenstance of rule restrictions that should be ignored? Yes. Definitely.
Okay, conceded.
But it's really weird when there's only one magic item in the game I'm aware of that has any level restrictions on use for any given class, the Holy Avenger and then there are two class/subclass features that reference ignoring level requirements on using magic items (Thief Rogue's Use Magic Device) and (Artificer's Magic Item Savant).
I guess my interpretation was just siding on there being something more useful to that word's inclusion in the feature.
Maybe they were leaving themselves room to explore further in that space... but either forgot about that or decided that (non spell) levels shouldn't matter with respect to magic items.
there plenty of items that the artificer can use during that level which is limitless in my opinion, most artificers i know off favour ranged combat then getting up close and personal. attuning the archmage robes and their staff would be funny

This isn't entirely correct - The Heartstone allows the nighthag to use her Etherness ability - it is a required item for the ability rather than and ability the heartstone grants. The cure disease thing though can be used by anyone.

The way I've thought about it is to take advantage of items you find. Say you find a:
Or even, if another party member has too many items; you can take one other party member can't.

Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
Yep.

If i'm playing a artficer i would grab race/class specific restrictions and use it like normal! i would pick according in a list below
Devotee's Censer
Dwarven Thrower
Moonblade
there plenty of items that the artificer can use during that level which is limitless in my opinion, most artificers i know off favour ranged combat then getting up close and personal. attuning the archmage robes and their staff would be funny
Guardian Emblem is also a good pick, I wanted to get the Wheel of Wind and Water for my pirate/sailor artificer but alas I didn't get it. The Docent is also a fun one.
Er ek geng, þat er í þeim skóm er ek valda.

If your DM allows reflavoring like mine does, a Staff of Power can be a lot of fun. My character flavors hers as a mechanical gauntlet.
