Coming one dice roll away from dying as a Barbarian in my campaign made me think: what if I has to get up with one hit point and could no longer fight from the front? I know spells basically go against the concept of raging (sorry DnD Shorts), and arrows/firearms require dexterity and do not benefit from rage (still not terrible, could maybe work it in somehow), so what about javelins/hand axes? Better yet, if you’re so strong, why not yeet your main weapon so long as you can easily get it back?
I couldn’t find any exampled of a ranged Barbarian subclass offhand, so why not make my own!?
3: Raging Recall
A strange primal magic allows you to recall one weapon or arrow to your hand as a bonus action.
(This lets you rage and throw your weapon the first turn, then recall it to your hand and throw it again the second. Obviously keeping your rage up is super important here, but i feel it’s too early to address that.
Also, you never have to loose your arrows!)
6: Double Recall
You may now recall two weapons and/or arrows to your hand as a bonus action.
(Since you get two attacks, I didn’t want you limited to just one. Obviously though you can’t recall the same weapon twice, so dual wielding is likely the best call here. You could also use hand-axes, javelins or archery.)
10: Rage Without Limits
You can now apply your rage bonus damage to all weapon attacks.
(The weakest feature, but this at least allows you to not miss out on your rage points.)
14: Ranged Rage
Your newfound primal strength doubles the range of your attacks.
(The big one. With double range the enemy will have a much more difficult problem keeping up with you.)
This is just my first draft, so there’s obviously room for improvement as always. Let me know what you think!
Path of the giants barbarian 6th level feature lets you throw your weapon (any weapon) and have it return to your hand instantly. Why not just play one of those if that’s the goal?
There are also a few magic items which return when thrown, and an artificer infusion which lets a thrown weapon return to the thrower.

Sorry about that! I’m still learning.
