I have a level 3 Forge Cleric who is typically involved melee battle. Up until now I've been primarily using the Blessing of the Forge on our Barbarian's Great Axe but he recently found a magical weapon so that is no longer an option.
I already have a pretty high AC (19 at the moment) so I'm torn between should I be blessing my Forge Cleric's Mace to get the +1 attack/damage rolls since I'm a little underpowered when it comes to melee damage or would it make more sense to bless the Barbarian's Armour to increase his AC from 14 to 15 and increase his survivability, especially because he puts out significantly more damage than my Cleric unless I'm casting guiding bolt.
Any thoughts? Is one option clearly better than the other or is it a matter of preference?
I'd be interesting in how others typically decide which item is the best to use this ability on.
If you're going to go into melee range as a cleric I think you'd be better off raising your own AC rather than your mace's damage. Whether that's better than improving the Barbarian's AC depends on how often you're each getting attacked and how much time they're spending in rage vs out of rage.
Necro reply, but I decide my blessing every day based on what happened recently (in game) - our fighter took major hits, he gets the AC boost; our rogue had some misses, she gets a weapon buff. I almost never do it efficiently, always RP :)

Your own survivability is pretty important as well...So I would not snuff at making your AC 20 to ensure you can stay up to keep the party up.
Especially if the barbarian is a Zealot as you can rez him for free. Overall there is not really a correct answer but what you prefer to do.
If you enjoy seeing others benefit from your buffs I would bless his armor.
If you enjoy melee combat go with the mace.
If you want to plan for the worst case scenario I would increase your AC to 20.
But overall its up to you as there is not a significantly better option here.
Thanks for the responses.
Good to know there isn't a clear best answer and it's more a question of personal preference/what fits the campaign/upcoming day the best.
