When you’re in the back a lot and don’t get hit much Con is more important for the Save proficiency than the extra HP so if it isn’t maxed ASAP no biggie, and thee need enough Wis for perception and to have a chance at those saves.
And between the high number of ASIs, and the fact that diols only really needs Dex, you could probably find room for Piercer too. Less important, but if you have the room for it, why the heck not? Especially since it helps your Rapier too when the get too close.
I got a companion that took 3 levels in this but is mainly a ranger. I'm skeptical that that was a good choice with the arrow DC relying on intel. But I guess we'll see what happens soon enough. Haven't seen it in action yet.
I would homebrew a hunter class from WoW and add some of your favorite abilities from the ranger class and the battle master. Or you could ask your GM to let you play an Arcane Archer, but with the Battle Master rules and toolkit. If I was your GM I would let you.
It's in need of some polishing, but it might work. Also, sorry if I posted the link wrong. I'm new here.
Based on the above link, if I want a throwing hammer to return, I can use this:
Arcane Weapon
Starting at 3rd level, your ranged weapons can magically summon non-magical ammunition, enabling you to ignore the loading property if they have it, and anytime you make a ranged attack with a thrown weapon it magically returns to your hand when it stops moving.

!00% correct! This Arcane Archer supports most ranged combat.
