If your a centaur fighter, and you choose the fighter subclass cavalier, will these following features still be viable?:
Born to the Saddle
Starting at 3rd level, your mastery as a rider becomes apparent. You have advantage on saving throws made to avoid falling off your mount. If you fall off your mount and descend no more than 10 feet, you can land on your feet if you’re not incapacitated.
Finally, mounting or dismounting a creature costs you only 5 feet of movement, rather than half your speed.
For example if you are a centaur, and you fall prone? will the Born to saddle feature count? as in when mounting or dismounting a creature (which the creature is you since your a centaur) costs you only 5 feet of movement, rather than half your speed. and will you? have advantage on saving throws on falling? as you are a centaur?
My ruling would be no, this does not apply to a centaur. HOWEVER, I would house rule that a Centaur Cavalier could convey the benefits of this feature to any creature that is able to ride on them. So if you team up with a party member and allow them to ride on your back, then they have the advantage on saves and only 5 ft mount/dismount because you are actively helping them through this ability.
The feature isn't wasted and it fits thematically. I would even change mounted combat in a similar way. Changes in bold.
You convey benefits to any creature you allow to mount you while in combat. While you are bearing a rider and neither of you areincapacitated, your rider gains the following benefits:
Your rider has advantage on melee attack rolls against any unmounted creature that is smaller than you.
You can force an attack targeted at your rider to target you instead.
If your rider is subjected to an effect that allows it to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails.
No, RAW, Centaurs cannot benefit from any "mounted" abilities. They are one being. The human torso is not mounting the horse body. You need a rider and a steed to benefit from mounted combat abilities.
I'm not really sure how a centaur would dismount itself...
I would recommend paladin (divine knight), eldritch knight (arcane knight), or battle master (knight knight) if you want to establish that kind of flavor on a centaur.
By RAW, no, the centaur would not get the benefit of those abilities while just standing there. If you can find a mount for them they would get those abilities while mounted, same as any other creature. As a medium creature, they can technically use any size large or bigger creature as a mount. Though I could see a DM ruling they can’t ride a horse, or many other mounts, because it would be pretty awkward, unless it was a specially trained mount with a specially designed saddle.
What does work though is making the Centaur a Rune Knight so it can make itself a Large creature and then another PC with that feat could ride it as an Independent Mount.
RAW, unless the centaur is mounted, it doesn't get those associated benefits. It's certainly possible to make a mounted centaur build. The question becomes how to do so.
In this particular case, the best mount for the job is the elephant. It's big and has the strength to back up its intended rider, but reaching down to attack an enemy could pose a problem for melee fighters. I'd recommend a javelin or polearm build for a centaur.

I have no idea RAW.

I am a lunatic so I say give the Centaur a mount. A Centaur riding a horse is hilariously awesome.
That's just sex
