Relooking through the Rune Knight abilities on my lv14 Kobold I noticed something... You could use Runic Shield to double the chance of an ally criting when they have advantage - as it says nothing about actually having to use it to protect your allies rather than your allies beyond the flavour text (intention).
Runic Shield
7th-level Rune Knight feature
You learn to invoke your rune magic to protect your allies. When another creature you can see within 60 feet of you is hit by an attack roll, you can use your reaction to force the attacker to reroll the d20 and use the new roll. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

D&D, Youth Work and the Priesthood sadly do not typically interact... I do what I can!
In most cases this going to have a negative impact. You are forced to use the reroll, which means you are more likely to turn a hit into a miss than into a crit.
But if you really need a crit, or you literally can't miss outside of a nat 1, it could be worth the risk and it is a creative use of the feature.
The time to use this would be when someone has advantage, say a Recklessly Attacking Barbarian - as the reroll would still be at advantage and doubles the chance to crit

I am not sure that you would get to reroll both dice.
The feature states that the creature must reroll the d20 (singular) and doesn't mention anything regarding if the attack is made at advantage or disadvantage. Unless theirs some other text I am missing, I would think RAW this means that only the d20 responsible for the hit gets rerolled.

So with advantage you get to roll again and pick the highest roll. Runic shield throw those dice out the window and have you roll a single die which you are forced to use. You don't get advantage on that runic shield roll. Just a single die.
The even bigger thing here is the wording before it "When another creature you can see within 60 feet of you is hit by an attack roll". So your ally rolled, with advantage AND hit, then you activate this feature to say "yea no, roll again" and now they roll a fat 5. You effectively turned a hit into a miss.
I'd save runic shield for defense when the enemy has advantage on a throw and got a Nat20/critical hit. Especially since you can only use it 2-6 times depending on level per long rest.
