thanks for the info guys! I decided on Malar as her primary deity (she's going to be a beast master later on) and Mielikki as her secondary deity. Or should that be the other way around?
You do realize that they are ( in the FR at least) foes of each other so it’s basically one or the other not both (unless your playing a multiple personality ranger).
”Mielikki was not the daughter of Silvanus, although her followers sometimes referred to her with the honorific "Daughter to Silvanus". She considered Silvanus a father figure, and thought of Eldath like a sister. She was the superior of Gwaeron Windstrom, Shiallia, and Lurue. She was friends with Shaundakul and Lathander and was an enemy of Malar, Talos, Talona.

Nothing stopping you from worshipping (or at least acknowledging) both. You can focus on the beast and hunt aspects of Malar (without the bloodlust) and the ranger and forest aspects of Mielikki (but not so much the unicorns and rainbows). That they are enemies is more a concern for priests than for everyday worshippers. You could even make it a personality point - that you are torn between the beastial and honorable parts of your nature, or that neither of your deities would be particularly happy you worship both but it suits you fine.
Don't worry so much about what is canon in the FR pantheon, it's a completely slipshod system. Note that choice of deity is completely about roleplaying and is not necessary for your class or spells.
My current ranger's god is Tyr, I feel this works as he is from Cormyr and he was trained to be a ranger when he was in the military. He does on occasion pay homage to Mielikki.
Gray worshipped Mielikki at one point in his life. Until his panther and wolf were killed defending him from the poachers he freed them from. He prayed to Mielikki to bring them back and his prayer was unanswered so he now refuses to give the gods any notice now.
The Ranger i love to play is a field researcher who started out as an a follower of Oghma then left after some Clergy of Oghma stole research papers from him.
So the Druid in my party converted him to Mielikki after telling him some of the tenets include Teaching others about nature and Learn about Nature's Hidden way .
Okay, I have a player who's a ranger character, a half-Kender of all things!
Question: What god in Krynn (Dragonlance) does a ranger serve? (Please don't tell me Zeboim! She's goddess of the sea, anyway! Alina works in the forest for the goddess of Nature.)
Chislev, also known as the Beast, Wild One, and World Mother, represents the godly force of instinct. She believes the soul grows by releasing thought and instinct, and giving in to primal urges. She is the power of the natural world and all things wild. She is at one with Krynn, and extends her wrath to those that abuse the earth. Chislev is wracked with pain and suffering during times of war, and works in the current world to heal the wounds done to it. She is the partner of Zivilyn, and maintains friendship with Sirrion. She conflicts with Shinare and Reorx. Gilean grants Chislev knowledge but he is at times overly intelligent for her. Chislev is regarded among all the Gods of Good, and opposes Morgion among the Gods of Evil in particular. Her celestial symbol is the planet Chislev.

This is from the forgotten realms wiki:

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.

Oooh, that's actually a great idea! Thanks for the tip!
Wood Elf Hunter Ranger worships Sehanine Moonbow Goddess of Dreams, death, travel.

My dwarf Ranger worships Thard Harr.

Excellent! Dwarf Rangers I play in the realms always worship Thard Harr, bit of a deep dive these days.
Some ideas are: Kord, Melora, Pelor, Sehanine, and Torog.
Come check out some of my Homebrew (please give input!)
Make some trinket tables on this thread!
