"I speak for the trees." It is the last thing the guard hears before he feels a knife in his back and the life drains from his body. The Lorax has struck again. The party watches in awe as this seven and a half foot behemoth assassin collects another kill, getting shivers down their spine as they watch him turn invisible, impossible to trace, and sneaks up to the outpost with the intent to kill. As the guards begin to collect themselves, having been surprised as their comrade drops, this hulking beast stabs another victim right in the back of his skull, killing him instantly before darting back to the party to storm the stronghold together, guards chasing after him...
Hello I decided to have a little fun by creating a firbolg assassin :D. I saw their trait to turn invisible for free as a bonus action once per long rest as an opportunity to make a very effective assassin. I then read about their ability to also have a one time use stronger disguise stealth as a racial trait and I knew this could work wonderfully. I was going to bring him to an upcoming campaign and I was considering him being a chaotic neutral alignment, being as a speaker of the woods that protects nature through stealth and trickery, not doing things really for a malicious purpose but to protect the natural world. Sadly he doesn't get much in the way that benefits rogues as far as ability modifiers go but that is mostly an inconvenience and it made him a much more well rounded character, with base ability scores of 10 strength, 15 dex, 14 con, 12 intelligence, 14 wisdom, and 10 charisma. (Using point buy. He is incredibly well rounded which I enjoy). I thought it would be interesting as well to have a rogue with expertise in nature since you don't get to see nature expertise often (although the other expertise is obviously stealth cause assassin). Any tips to bring this character to life? :D
Sounds like a great idea, aside from the obvious game mechanics of needing to up your DEX asap, remember your other racial tools to really set you aside from the common Assassin:
Powerful Build
You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift. -- Killed a someone and no one saw you? Grab that body and carry it out of sight with ease, magically disguise yourself as them, live life as a master infiltrator.
Speech of Beast and Leaf
You have the ability to communicate in a limited manner with beasts and plants. They can understand the meaning of your words, though you have no special ability to understand them in return. You have advantage on all Charisma checks you make to influence them. -- Guard animal is catching on that you don't belong there? Tell it the Lorax will give it the sweet taste of freedom after it deals with it's masters if it quiets down or even joins in the rebellion of nature.
Those are both interesting points I was wondering if after maxing dex maybe taking a feat to kinda solidify his nature ties so I might be looking at that at some point (although that won't apply till what, 12th or 16th level?). I like that he can actually very easily drag a body off with the powerful build that's a great idea :D Since I have an odd dex score I could even take like moderately armored (for the rare shield thief for more standard combat encounters), Weapon master (for... whips? Idk I'd have to look but something might fit), or athlete to really make breaking and entering even easier! I'll toy around with a couple ideas.

Calling your character the Lorax is great. Just look at normal rogue stuff; max dex, lucky feat, if you chose to multiclass class.
As for multiclass shadow monk, nature cleric, circle of the grassland druid, or gloom stalker ranger, fighter is always good.

...well, that's probably going to be the best thread title I'll be reading today.
