Chain lightning at higher levels because it's fun. At lower levels I like Suggestion because you can get a lot of use out of it and unlike similar spells the target doesn't know he or she has been charmed. As a divine soul sorcerer my favorite is guiding bolt.
Storm Sphereeeeee. Mostly because I've been playing a Storm Sorc. It's great having something that is both an AOE and something that gives me an attack as a bonus action.
If long rests are few and far between one level 3 spell slot gives you 3 rounds of 2d10 (@lvl5) +4d6 (15ft square AoE on the 4d6, scales well though for more rounds). Also its cool to have fiery meteors swirling around your head. Lvl 3 spells are pretty competitive though, but when you only have 2/3 slots early on, this.
Also props to Chromatic Orb, saved my hide more than once.
Prestidigitation is my favourite spell on every list that can take it; sure it does basically nothing in combat, but it is hands down the spell I use the most and have most fun with 😉
I always really thought Chromatic Orb was pretty cool, material components aside.
Chormatic Orb is a particular favourite of mine as well; regarding the material component though, since it's not consumed, it only delays when you can start casting the spell so I don't think it's really a huge problem. If you're a Draconic Ancestry sorcerer you could always ask your DM to waive the material component if you use only the element granted by your ancestry, then start choosing once you have the diamond.
Also, if you take the starting gold your average for a sorcerer is 75gp; that's enough to buy the diamond (50gp), an arcane focus (5gp), and an explorer's pack (10gp), while still leaving 10gp for other bits and pieces (a dagger, or whatever else you might want).
I'm also a big fan of Dragon's Breath; bonus action to cast it and you can get up to ten rounds of 15 foot cone breathe weapon attacks as an action out of it for yourself or an ally, making it pretty good if you need to conserve slots. I'm a fan of the much maligned Witch Bolt for the same reason, though its range is a bit short (I think people would like it more if it had at least 60 feet). The added benefit of both of these is that on later turns you can still cast bonus action (i.e- quickened) spells and cantrips in addition to the repeatable damage these do.

twin hast. when the battle map is huge the extra movement for 2 people some more ac and 50% more damage is to good to pass up. plus i like being the buff bot and making other people feel awesome. twin poly is good for all kinds of crazyness as well. giant owls giant ape and giant eagle are all intelligent and wis at least for "beasts"
This forum makes me happy since Sorcerer is my favorite class. As for spell, I'm often a fire or ice-based magic-user, usually ice. My favorite ice spell is Ray of Frost and my favorite fire spell is Wall of Fire.
Ray of Frost, Shocking Grasp, and Firebolt are all fun to spam in combat. It makes me feel like a Dragon Age mage which is one of my favorite classes to play in that game.

Melf's all the way! Avoids hitting your party in tighter rooms, unlike that other fire spell. Also works as a torch if needed.
Spirit Guardians probably the best spell for a Divine Soul.

Anybody try out mental prison? Looks fun, but not sure if it actually works in game.
Charm Person is my favorite spell for any class that has it It really is useful out of combat (especially when no one else takes non combat spells)

Love me some ray of frost. I keep trying to make a lightning sorcerer, but there needs to be more spells.
