Hmm... You need to add my current favorite to this list. Yuan-Ti.

Born under the watch of something from the furthest corners of the far realms.... It knows all.... it sees all... and it asks: "What is it that you want to see?"... and my answer is... ALL"
That would have been my entry, most likely. My two favorite races, period, are Tabaxi and Warforged, as in 'I will happily play only these two races from now until the end of time if I can'. So, the 'forged got the nod on this poll.
Warforged for the win. Not required to eat, drink, breathe, or sleep. Short rests only and guard duty all night, unless I have to recoup HD.
And they're just so ... damn ... COOL.
Really? I've never been able to understand the appeal. I look at them and think- "I can be a robot in countless other RPG's and games, why be one in D&D?"

I agree. Warforged is really an aquired taste. But take that with a grain of salt as I also don't like tieflings. I prefer beastfolk like Aarakokra, Minotaur, or Lizardfolk
Sadly I find Aasimar to be warlocks as a race without any class benefits. So you have to merge both concepts together or have them in constant conflict.

It's especially unfortunate just how badly they synergize with the Celestial patron (which is otherwise kind of appealing in that you can make the angelic guide and the patron the same entity). Redundant bonus cantrip, redundant damage resistance...

OTOH, they make great FiendLocks, if you can come up with a good reason for them to make a Pact with one...
CHA +2, poison immunity, and advantage on all spell and magical effect saves.
Pair it with 2 levels of War Magic Wizard, 6 levels of Paladin, and perhaps even go Oath of the Ancients Pally to further let spell damage wash over you....

Talk about a meta-gaming multiclass lol. Would love to see the backstory of a War Wizard-Paladin-Warlock lol.
It was crazy - ended up taking a reduction in battle ability, and for RP purposes, going for a Shadow Sorcerer / L2 Shepherd Druid / L4 Pact of the Chain Warlock instead. The guy is trained to in open subterfuge, bringing down cities, taking disguise self at will, actor feat, talk to animals on permanently without spells, and voice throwing invisible imp, and ability to turn into innocuous animals, mostly snakes for theme.

I am playing a drow warlock and I am loving it

Eladrin Elf for a Feypact
I am playing one of these right now. Loads of fun!
Human Variant- Magic Initiate for more Spells
Personally I love playing Elves as PC's and they can work well for all of the pacts.

Couldn't agree more

Yeah, that backstory will be fun as well...
I got a bias, I'm to sentimental towards my warlock Areni High Elf. He loved his Areni genocide, good times.
Also known as CrafterB and DankMemer.
Here, have some homebrew classes! Subclasses to? Why not races. Feats, feats as well. I have a lot of magic items. Lastly I got monsters, fun, fun times.
Yuan ti and great old one (Dendar) patron...
"So in exchange for sacrificing all of these worthless other people I get more power? Where do I sign?"
You can play the main bad guy and manipulate the party into being your henchmen...my DM hated mine 😁
