He has 9hp and an AC of 14 but I almost have enough gold buy a chain shirt or scale mail
I plan to get pact of the blade and have my weapon be a Glaive. But what should I get for my invoctations? I was thinking Agonizing blast and Devil's sight. And for my play style should I be aggressive and go for melee or play it safe and stay back? My spells are Hex and Shield, which one should I use in a battle?
My character already died once on a crit from a wolf and I don't want him to die again, thanks in advance for helping me.
Skamos Valchar is my Hexblade. I love playing him and find him quite nicely tuned for both ranged spellcasting and melee and invocations that can be used both in and out of combat.
Spell wise, Armor of Agathys is good as at least then when you get hit in melee it does damage back, plus temp hit points! Might work out better than shield.
Devil's Sight with Darkness makes a powerful combination. You get advantage on anyone you attack and everyone gets disadvantage against you. Even if the DM is using the flanking rule, that would only work if they can see the target.

But without a group that can adapt to that strategy its more of a nuisance than a powerful combination. Hard for the rest of the group to do anything in that area when its covered with darkness.
Nothing prevents them from throwing AoE's in the Darkness, or even taking stuff as target, the only thing happening is that they do it at Disadvantage.
Also i find it weird that everyone act as it is the BEST combo ever, it will work for a turn, then the Dm makes the guys inside move away from it...

Kain de Frostberg- Dark Knight - (Vengeance Pal3/ Hexblade 9), Port Mourn
Kain de Draakberg-Dark Knight lvl8-Avergreen(DitA)
Yeah, but cast darkness on your weapon and it moves with you.
It's not the best combo, but its a good combo.
