Playing a Raven Queen (UA) Warlock, styled after a older very English nobleman. My EB is a gun! (It's so much fun - my DM allows it [with Minor Illusion] to do sick magical looking gun things, whilst just being EB)

I did something similar not too long ago with a Genie Warlock Kenku... I played him as more of a bandit, but his "gun" was actually just one of those tequila bottles that looks like a gun (and which functioned as his Genie Bottle) and he made the gun sound himself when "firing" it.
I always envision my Warlock/Bard's eldritch blast rather like the Ghostbuster's proton beams, but since his Archfey patron is the Pale Prince, the energy is so cold it burns. Plus, also, he's a bit of a chaos agent, so having it arc and flare a little randomly makes a lot of sense to me!

I once played a hexblade warlock who threw his eldritch blasts like daggers. I also played a fiend warlock who shot a tiny bolt of yellow energy that exploded into spectral flames on impact. They were both characters I made for one-shots, but their eldritch blast appearances made them feel a little more alive.

Panda-wat (I hate my username) is somehow convinced that he is objectively right about everything D&D related even though he obviously is not. Considering that, he'd probably make a great D&D youtuber.

The real question is when you cast Eldritch blast at higher level do you shoot up to 4 out of your hands or is it 1 blast that separates into 4 different little ones after its cast. I guess the wording does matter cause counter spell etc... could stop one or all depending on the wording right? (since its one cast technically)

Counterspell stops ALL attacks from Eldritch Blast, but I would imagine any decent DM would still allow the player to describe it as they like.
i ask the player what colour they want, and if what kind of for it takes, one love cats soo she has tiny kitten that runs in the air and dashes into the enemies
As kinetic energy gathering in the line between figertips of warlock and his targets, air for brief moment fill with heat-alike mirage and in the blink of an eye, same line become visible as solid crimson red beam of force, cracking air like battering ram blasting impact into target with hollow sound almost like cracking empty eggshells in giant hands. Moment later, there is no trace of beam, no mirages, no sound, no red lights. Only black-redish afterburn on the targets surface
(+1 psychic damage for my bad english, but i,m trying my best)
For the warlock i just made, they rip off their arm, then throw it as it becomes engulfed in black fire hits the target, at 5th level and above will ricoche to the next then at the end disintigrate as it regrows undamaged but gruesomely also the arm and shoulder areas are bleeding heavily while this happens.
My warlock has the Raven Queen as his patron so for his Eldritch Blast a bunch of spectral raven feathers gather and then shoot into the foe like a bunch of quill darts.
sorry putting this hear coz lots of EB users: someone is telling me EB is getting removed in 1d? I've read the playtest and maybe I missed that? can someone confirm or refute please? feeling crazy

Wow ... this is a new one to me. I wish people would stop jumping to conclusions based on so little information.
The playtest material we have gotten is available to to download HERE.
In it, Wizards has decided to classify spells into three broad lists: Arcane, Divine, and Primal. They've so far given us a short list of 1st level spells that are on each of these lists. Some spells are on multiple lists and this is not an exhaustive list of all 1st level spells. This is just a list made available for use with the new Magic Initiate Feat.
Eldritch Blast happens to not be on any of the lists, but that in no way means they are intending on removing it from the game it just means that it's not relevant for Magic Initiate. They haven't even shown us how they are going to implement Classes yet. This could mean any number of things. Like maybe Eldritch Blast is exactly how it was, but just not relevant to Magic Initiate. Maybe Eldritch Blast is going to be a Warlock only feature. Point is we don't know, please try and take a look at the material and think for yourself before panicking about playtest material that is intended to help shape the book that's coming out in two years.

you've restated all my thoughts that led to me posting, and offered no new ideas. nicely asking on this specific thread is part of researching my question, along with rereading the UA for the 4th or 5th time, as well as cross-referencing the PHB full cantrip list with the UA, as well as digging through twitter and news blurbs.
apart from rereading everything, i also had the initial though, "hey dndbeyond has friendly helpful people, maybe someone knows better than me?"
what happened? why the animosity?
have manners, this is an otherwise friendly forum for a fun game.
Jeremy Crawford also said in the interview that spellcasting classes are getting their own spell lists. Still, the true answer is that we don't know and we won't know, not until they release more information. Please, just wait until we get more information. It is way too early to jump to conclusions.

Just Agonizing and Repelling. The other invocations are too useful.

Genie patron warlock with a lantern as their vessel: eldritch blast as a concentrated beam of light from the lantern.
my fire genasi with an efreeti patron basically shoots a firebolt
Treat it like a Railgun blast, awesome!
