Exactly the correct interpretation. The phrase "during which" makes the phrase immediately following dependent on the actions performed in the phrase immediately preceding. Your party is wrong - plain and simple. Genielock at 6th level can fly AND hover.
Thank you for the clarification (of course I would mixup "phrase" and "clause" while suggesting someone else might have a hard time parsing English!)

LOL- You were definitely making the right point. No worries.
It's just on the spell list when you can get a 9th level mystic arcanum.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
It's probably a bug. Report it on the bug section.

There's a lot from Tasha's that isn't implemented yet.

The spells with spell slots seem to be working. The Mystic Arcanum (wish being the only unique one) not so much. I thought the OP had made a mistake too, then I leveled a warlock up to 20 and tried to pick Wish with my 9th level Mystic Arcanum, and it's not available.

Looking at everything the Genie Warlock can now do with official material, I have to say I'm kind of disappointed. There are some impressive abilities, yes, but at the same time, everything feels like the dev team limited their scope unnecessarily. By the time I found out about the Genie Warlock in playtesting the window for my input on the subject had already closed, the available UA had already moved on to the next set of subjects, but regardless, I can still say that they put out an official printing of the Genie Warlock a bit too soon. A lot of the Genie Warlock abilities read like someone was trying to recreate stuff from I Dream of Jeanie, which is fine, but I feel like they missed a big opportunity not recreating some of the abilities Genie holders in Magi, a manga/anime series that's basically run its course (the manga had its finale a few years ago), got. Quite a few abilities Genie holders in Magi got looked like some great potential mid and high-level abilities for a Warlock in general.
In Magi, one of the high-level abilities they got was the "Djinn Equip" which was an ability where they basically merged with their genie and got a bunch of special abilities tied to that genie that couldn't really be replicated in any feasible way with magic in addition having the ability to fly, they basically got the power to fly and access to Legendary Actions with a few extra features for a limited time. There was also a low to mid-level passive ability that allowed them to imbue a portion of the genie's power into an item to give the properties of a magical item that also had that elemental trait in some way, but you had to have a strong personal connection to someone for that effect to take place. That all said, the cool extra power I just mentioned, it would be lost to the user if you were separated from your genie vessel. That all said, Magi played a little loose with what could be defined as a genie's vessel. There's more I could say, but I recommend just going and checking out Magi, but I will say the finale arc does feel a little lackluster after everything leading up to it, it's not bad, it just feels like more could have been done to make it suitably epic and memorable.
That all said, Magi does a wonderful job world-building and its magic system is surprisingly deep with quite a distinct history to it. And it might be fun to try recreating some of the characters from the series, or at least use them as a template for a new character.

The designers really can't be faulted for not patterning the subclass around one semi-popular property that they probably never even noticed. That said, you could always homebrew something more to your liking. Share it if you do, I enjoyed what I saw of the anime.
We don't need to turn every subclass into an anime reference.
Amen to that. I don't think passing up an anime reference (that most folks have likely never heard of) is a "big opportunity missed"

I really like the feel of this sub class and am playing it now. Went with efreet due to I liked the feel of it with a desert mage, deserts are hot, hot fire, not to deep. I'm sure I could rationalize any of them fine as well, and honestly I suspect efreet is the worst spell list, though maybe the best resistance.
I kind of think the sub class needed maybe a bit more, but its not bad. Maybe the 10 minute rest should have been at level 1(edit), maybe more access to the space per day. Its not the weakest warlock subclass, but its not the best of the non hexblade locks either(hexblade being stupid levels better than the rest)
About to start a Genie pact Warlock for Ghosts of Saltmarsh. So much flavour with this subclass, allowing you to flavour your spells, invocations, and so on to match your genie master. It's great.
Going Marid so cold-based spells and invocations (including Tomb of Levistus, Gift of the Depths, and spells such as Armor of Agathys). Torn between blade and chain pact - such awesome imagery with both.
But looking over the subclass, I like the design aspect so far. Kind of wish Elemental Weapon was in there somewhere - makes more sense for this subclass to have it rather than Hexblade, but oh well. Such is life.
I'm noticing that my available spells to learn contains all of the Genie type spells. My patron is a djinn, but I have Burning Hands, Fog Cloud and Sanctuary along with Thunderwave as possible first level spells. Is this a bug?

Thank you for everyone’s feedback. I appreciate it.
How do you get access to the wish spell for the the Genie

I thought so too but I checked in I couldn’t find it

So I made my genie warlock on here, and none of the patron specific spells show up on the character sheet spell list. Has anyone else had this issue?

Do you have the optional class features turned on? That may be the problem, I managed to make a Effreti with the new spells

Yeah I had it turned on, still no luck

We don't need to turn every subclass into an anime reference.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
