The mobile apps I hate the most are just mobile formatted websites in an app. I can't stand them. Please do not do this with D&D Beyond. I want an app that is designed to work well on my device. If I'm on a 12 inch tablet app I expect more than what I can get on a phone app or some squished website in a browser.
If I open a mobile app and it looks like a website then your first impression is starting at a 5/10—tops—and then you're fighting to impress me and raise my opinion.
Is there an app to download? How do I access this on my tablet or phone?
A native mobile app is absolutely in the works for DDB, but at this point for the beta everything is included in the website. The site is mobile responsive, so you should be able to view and use it just fine on a phone or tablet. Just visit the site in your device's browser. If something doesn't look right on your mobile device, that's the kind of feedback we want to hear during the beta so we can make it pretty everywhere. We will definitely share more specifics about the mobile app soon, including how to download it.

I'm aware that there will be a mobile native app. That can be inferred from the fact that I did not ask if there will be a mobile app. You're response was like saying yes there will be air tomorrow. Obviously. What I'm asking is that the air not be a fart. So I said don't make the app that I know you're making, this way that produces apps that I think are cheap and low quality. If you've got a quote in there relevant to that question please post that one. I'd love to have more confidence in their future app.
I'm asking that the app not be a mobile website that just gets downloaded from an app store. I don't want them to make an app that is the equivalent of a web browser that can only visit one website. I've seen enough of those that a company saying they're making an app does not inspire confidence. The fact that they're starting from the web instead of a mobile platform inspires hesitation and concern when they tell me trust us we'll totally have an app.
Edit 4/21: I was a d!ck in my post. I shouldn't have. I'll own that. Not taking out the line, but I'll stick a pin in it an acknowledge that I shouldn't have said that line because it was needlessly antagonistic.
Does it help that the app will allow you to access the content offline? Other than those facts - The only ones that know more information are the devs. Remember, we're here to help you find the information you're looking for, but it'll be just as easy to ignore your snarky comments and move on to the next thread.

He wasn't asking a question; he was giving feedback. No information is being looked for. And yes, this being feedback, it's addressed to the devs.
I agree that a mobile app that's actually native to the system rather than an HTML page would be preferable, but I'm not as vehemently against it. There are a lot of things that can be done in HTML; it's possible for them to format things so that it's not terrible.
That said, I'm going to be accessing D&D Beyond at the gaming table on a Surface Pro. I hope that whatever app is released is compatible with that so I can still use the program offline.

While there is a mobile app in the works, it's likely not to be seen until near the end of beta. There has been no further information given about it. However, if you've been following the beta thus far, you'll have noticed that the Developers keep in close touch with the community, and have made many changes based off community feedback. The landing page for the compendium, for example. Rest assured, when the mobile app surfaces, they will take community feedback into consideration, and make it the best app they can.

Giving feedback on something that doesn't exist for users yet?
One user pointed him to a video that shows what the mobile app may look like, a mod pointed him to a compiled list of quotes, and I informed him that it was a downloadable standalone app that was in development. This is all information that can help in informing him that it won't merely be a webpage without directly quoting a developer stating whether or not it will be. It's sad that you feel any help freely offered by members of this forum is help that isn't needed unless directly coming from a developer.

Yes. Feedback as to what he desires for an announced feature is, in fact, a thing that's desirable for people to give.
Also, the downloadable standalone app is what he was talking about - he already knew it was going to exist. What he was talking about was the format of that app - whether it was going to be a standalone app that essentially acts on a downloaded copy of the web site or not. Absolutely nothing in your post, or any of the posts you referenced, relates to that question in any way - developers haven't addressed it, the video doesn't address it (nothing in the video can't be done by an HTML page being ran in a dedicated app for it), etc.
He wasn't asking for help, and there is no help to provide. He was expressing an opinion.
Giving feedback on a feature that does not yet exist isn't feedback, it's a wishlist. And that's perfectly fine. We all want to see certain features, and have theorized on what may be coming. Let the devs work on the app, and when it comes out, there will be a feedback thread in this section of the forums, where everything can be discussed.
Now, since there's no help to be had here, I'm going to leave this thread, as there's no point in spending any more time on the subject at this time.
As LangyMD said, I was providing feedback, not asking a question. I decided not to respond last night, but I would have written mostly the same thing they did.
Yes I did post feedback for something that doesn't exist yet. Absolutely. I did it for exactly the reason Firehawk said in their second post: The developers are reading and responding to feedback.
The further they are from finishing the mobile app the better, though. Waiting until they produce some beta of a mobile app that we can touch before providing feedback on what we want from it is definitely worse than asking while they're early in development—for us, for the developers, and for D&D Beyond. Everyone should be posting feedback about what they want out of a mobile app for D&D Beyond. They've demonstrated that feedback gets read and that good feedback makes it into the product.

And we answered with all of the information that we have so that he is better informed. We're not belittling his opinion or telling him it's trash. We're providing information that may be relevant to his worries. At this rate it feels like you're just arguing with mods for the sake of arguing.
Could this be further elaborated upon, as I'm curious to review? I've attempted to locate through the above without success.
Thank you much.
Oooo good one. Ba zinga. Inventing the context that I was specifically saying my feedback is good feedback so that you could make a joke was a nice touch. And you saved your rude response for a post where I was polite and stuck to trying to draw the thread back to a constructive path without being antagonistic. If mods never showed up in this thread it could have been a constructive discussion.

Did the text editor randomly bold some sentences on you? I know this forum's text editor can be a pain to use and I can't fathom how you infer a question from anything you bolded. There's no question there. I'd have put a question mark at the end of a question.
There's no implied question in my original post either, the post where Langy and I both said I wasn't asking any questions. I made a request, like "please cook that hamburger medium well." I did not ask, "do they cook hamburgers?"
I'm afraid this thread has gotten a bit off point, so I'll put a pin in it.
We appreciate the feedback regarding the mobile app. We can't share any real details at this point other than we're going to have one. The concerns and requests listed here will be added to our list.
Thanks!
