I'm pretty inexperienced at D&D, and I use D&D Beyond to bring me the confidence to play that I lacked without it, leading me to enjoy regular sessions and throw myself into roleplay and combat with unbridled enthusiasm that was hindered by my uncertainty in the past.
However, there's a bit of an inconsistency here. I know that there's an icon explaining that my armour gives me disadvantage on stealth checks in my equipment, but I don't really tend to check my equipment tab every time I roll for something - I expect that stuff to be in the skills section, as it's related to the skills.
So, that being said - if I'm wearing armour that gives me disadvantage on stealth, can that apply the D disadvantage icon next to the stealth number? Because as it stands I can really see myself forgetting, and I don't want to accidentally cheat. This is the sort of thing I'd write down on a paper sheet, and I'd like D&D Beyond to have an answer for every advantage that paper character sheets present, within reason.
In a related matter, I accidentally cheated the other day by equipping Chain Mail to a character with insufficient strength. I had just assumed the character sheet would prevent that sort of thing, and got through several encounters before realizing my error and apologizing to all involved. I'm now paying (voluntary) penance by running around without armor on until we find some he can loot.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.

The character sheet didn't prevent you from equipping armor that you don't meet the Strength prerequisite for because it's not cheating to do so; you just get a penalty to your speed. If you forgot to account for the speed penalty at the table, that's not DDB's fault.
Whoa. I'm not picking a fight. Definitely not DDB's fault. I see that, indeed, it's just a speed penalty. As that is the case, it would be fantastic if the DDB character sheet would reduce my speed listed by 10' if I equipped armor I'm not strong enough to wear. That's all. I'd love it even more than I already do.
Because it is already so awesome, I had imagined in my head that the sheet would already account for this (and that they would have gotten the rule right that I got wrong!). Alas, it does not, through no fault of the developers who have given me this amazing product I love and use for all my D&D gaming now. We cool?

The sheet should account for it, if you have the encumbrance drop-down on the home page of the builder set for the encumbrance rules you are using.

It does not currently account for regular encumberance or STR requirements of armor. Both are planned.

My reply came across stronger than I intended; I’m sorry if I caused any confusion. I wasn’t trying to imply anything.

Interesting. I thought it did; is it just weight or carried items, then, that can affect speed shown on the sheet depending on encumbrance setting?

I was just coming here to post and ask this exact thing. Good thing I searched first.
Hopefully this feature will be implemented soon. :)
