I'm not sure if you are looking for something else, but you can already make your own homebrew weapons and such.
Any homebrew you have made yourself ends up under Collections -> My Homebrew Creations, and any homebrew you subscribe to while browsing homebrew can be seen under Collections -> My Homebrew Collections.
The issue is for example I want a weapon like a claymore but can only use the current weapons in D*D as a base, I mean a whole custom system for dice rolls and features etc.
Well seeing as WoTC won't allow it, we're not going to see that. They made it clear in the licensing that DDB homebrew can't alter weapons in that way. So you just have to make a "claymore" some standard weapon but describe it differently in the description and if necessary state the additional dice and stuff you want it to roll.
From a 5e perspective, a Claymore is just one of the many different weapons that fall under the umbrella of Greatsword, and the official rules are to use the preexisting weapon most suitable. Therefore, just take a Greatsword and customize the name directly on the character sheet to read “Claymore.” That’s why DDB doesn’t let us for it, because WotC has ruled that they shouldn’t.
I do believe that WotC has raised that restriction on DDB, but they are currently in the midst of a massive systemwide overhaul that includes the homebrewer. So we may be getting that, but no idea when.
The weapon names in the weapons list aren't specific. They're categories/types. A katana is a type of longsword, so just add a longsword to the sheet (rename it, if preferred), a claymore is a type of greatsword so add greatsword to the sheet (rename it, if preferred), a wakizashi is a type of shortsword so add shortsword (rename it, if preferred), a tanto would be a type of dagger so -- you get the idea.
There's some which break the mold like Rapier, which is a type of longsword, but is put separately due to being a lighter version that is better designed for quickness and accuracy over power (hence "finesse" property).
Some are put rather wrong like "Scimitar" which is literally a generic reference of long swords that were quite varied and was, at one point, just a term you used for any "long sword". It's a recent misuse of the term in popular modern culture to refer to the broad curved slashing blades wielded by pirates (which isn't historically accurate, FYI). But ah well, it's a game made by people with limited knowledge on real weapons.
It would be an insane task to add all the types of weapons into D&D, so it was simplified to the basic category types , with some exceptions for flair and variety, so you can just add that type to know what to roll.
So just add the closest match by type and you're good to go. You can rename it if you need to on the sheet.
Worst case scenario is just make what you need on the sheet. You can just create the attack for the stats, add magic bonuses, select damage type, and all that stuff. Want a weapon that just does 1d12 and uses Dex? You can make it! Want a weapon that does 2d6 fire damage and runs off your Charisma? You can make that too! You can make all sorts right on the sheet. It's also worth making a matching custom item so you can factor the weight and whether it's i inventory etc, but yeah.
Or use "magic item" builder to make it selecting modifiers and such to make the base item work as you want and alter description. Wonky, but does the job just dandy for the sheet.

That's two ways to make your weapons. Both are simple and take only a tiny amount of time. Do we honestly, really, need a third? I'd rather the devs just fix things actually broken, to make the things they promised over 2 years ago, to work towards new and better homebrewing like Classes, custom invocations and battle manouvers, and fix the ******* slightly infuriating homebrew update lag. Seems better than to add stuff you can already do, in less than a minute, two different ways.

Ive used that as the DM that made it use the versatile ability for stronger characters so I used the longsword base and just need to ignore its base damage

Simple as the title, I would love to be able to add homebrewed weapons to the homebrew collections

Well Thats what ive done so far, it would just help alot in the character sheets to have the buttons etc.
