Exactly as it sounds, I'm creating a new character for a one shot campaign, a fighter, but when I go to chose the fighting style, only one of the three base options is available, same with the feats section. I think maybe this is a bug with this specific class, but when I go to make a wizard character, pretty much the same problem, only one of the many base school of magic options is available, and yet again there is only one feat to choose. This is Not a case of me not finding paid/extra content or whatever, it's stuff from the base player's manual that's missing, which obviously Should be there. What is going on???
Not everything from the Players Handbook is available for free here. Only those things that are in the Basic Rules/SRD, plus the Elemental Evil Players Companion are free. (Plus a few other odds and ends). While all the character options in the Basic Rules and SRD are in the Players Handbook, there is a lot more in the Players handbook that isn’t in the free resources.
So, yes, only one subclass for each class is available for free, and there is only one feat in the Basic Rules/SRD, etc.
NOTE: The Basic Rules and the System Reference Documents were/are separate free pdfs from Wizards of the Coast, but with a lot of overlapping content. DDB combined the two and refer to the combined document simply as the “Basic Rules.”
Are you confusing the players handbook with the basic rules? The basic rules only have one subclass for each class (though there is more than one fighting style). The players handbook has more but is paid content.
