Okay, so I know people have asked if it's possible to have a homebrew class option down the road, and I know it's not a high priority option for the devs to be working on. So, I tried something that I thought was insanely clever. I tried to make a class, by using a subclass builder.
I've been building each layer of the class piece by piece, according to level, and I feel like I've been coding it fairly well, but then I tried to load up the character sheet to test out my progress so far (I plugged everything in up to 4th level), and I wind up getting a beholder error with this coding info attached:
in Connect(t) in div in t in Connect(t) in div in div in t in Connect(t) in t in n
I'm not sure if I programmed poorly, or if what I'm attempting is just flat out impossible. Just thought I would reach out to this group to get some experienced input.
Post a link to your homebrew progress so far (it doesn't have to be published) so mods can look at it.
What you are trying isn't too impossible. People have made ranger subclasses to make it work like the UA revised ranger. And people have also made sorcerer subclasses to attempt to create something akin to the mystic (sorcerer is a popular class to try this on because it chooses its subclass at level 1 and the base class basically only has 3 features (spellcasting, metamagic, and font of magic)).
Im working right now. But ill be sure to add the homebrew page in the system and the desired outcome with the google docs page i wrote up for it. Hopefully its something i can do, i don't want to have to print out multiple sheets for characters with this class.
Well. I did a test run, and it seems like it's not so much the class edits that I'm worrying about...It might be the homebrew race I made. I'll have to try that with a different class for the race and see if that fixes the errors or keeps popping them up.
EDIT: Yep, confirmed it's the character race, and I've tried fixing things but nothing is working to get it to cooperate. I need help.
Updating this with a new post. Turns out the only thing I was having problems with was the fact that the racial trait for one class option was bugged. I couldn’t set a climbing speed for the racial option without it bugging out and giving me a beholder error, everything else works perfectly.
If anyone has any insight on how to make that work, so they have a walking AND climbing speed, without it giving an error, it would be appreciated.

I'll keep an eye out for this and see what I can do to help. If I haven't replied inside about 48 hours, ping me a message as a reminder please. :)

Okay, so here's the link for the homebrew class so far (only up to level 4, because of how it has to work with accessing the class):
https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/163509-archfiend/subclass/163509/edit
And here is the google doc page I'm trying to do as the end result for this homebrew base:

If the link doesn't work, let me know. I'll try and get it to cooperate.
