This was originally published in General chat a few weeks back. I assumed that release might fix this, it did not.
I created a ring, added the spells to it and gave it to a player. He has it equipped and attuned (even though it is not a requirement). How can he see the stored spells on it? I can't find a way to do that. I did go back to the item and verified the 5 spells are present.
Based on the description of the item, it looks like you want these spells to be assigned as "abilities" and not part of any charge based limited use. In order to do that you need to remove the numbers in the min/max charges fields for the spells.
Hey Czarbss, I was wanting to make them a single use thing. For example, the ring has one cast of Time Stop in it then the magic for that spell dissipates and is lost. Maybe I am trying to work this outside of the mechanic of the system. Either way, I will go test this now.
If you want a limited use on it, you can set up a number of charges it can have (1 in your case). This configuration is in the "Additional Information" for the item editor and you can mark "Has Charges" and give it a count and reset condition.
If I am understanding you though, you want this ring to be a one time use and it disappears. If that is the case, it would have to be an at table thing right now as we don't currently support a one use and its gone from the ring use case.
To resurrect this thread, is there any way we could have a text field added to the standard "Ring of Spell Storing" item so that the player can always keep track of what spells are stored in it? Thanks!
The Fighter in my party just got a ring of spell storing and I was trying to work out how to show her where the stored spells are. Doing a search, all I could find was this old thread. Is there a way to have the fighter access to spells? (I am newish to dndBeyond as well and couldnt work it out.)
I'm not sure if this thread is where I should bring this up. I've recently run into this issue as well. I've got the ring of spell storing and I can attune it, but it never shows the little triangle with and 'A' in it. I don't know where I'm supposed to capture the spells that are stored, used and recast into the ring. Does anyone have some information that can assist here? Thanks very much in advance.
I am having the same problem a year later. Any advice appreciated.
There is a way to get close to what you want as a Homebrew item. I did this a long time ago, so I don't know if there is a better option
First, look at my character: Arnara. You will notice that she has an item called "Arnara's Ring of Spell Storing." If you click it, you see it has four spells (Shield and Haste, both editions versions.) Shield cost a single charge, while Haste costs 3. The spells appear on the spell tab.
Basically I homebrewed a Ring of Spell Storing, and customized the spell list for those two specific spells; The normal payload is 2 shields and a haste spell. All I did, was add them in the Spells list on the item. Note that is what is typical for that character, but obviously you could have a different set altogether. But changing the spells, requires editing the homebrew.

The item URL is: https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/12136-ice-sorcerers-ring. It is not published to Public Homebrew. It has the spells: Time Stop, Planar Binding, Teleportation Circle, Wall of Force, and Maze.
The ring is assigned to: https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/Armygeek/characters/111525
In the campaign: https://www.dndbeyond.com/campaigns/5449.
Thanks!

Attached was my test on our dev servers:
Hope this helps!

That makes total sense. I had a feeling that was the issue.
Thanks again.

Bumping this. Still need a way to handle spells being stored in the ring.
Bumping again. I'm not a coder so no idea if this is a complicated ask. Or maybe this has been fixed? If so, I couldn't find it.
