i just purchased the critter bundle not too long ago. the wildemount book has the tortle race in the book as possible races. do i have to buy the tortle package to make a character on the D&D beyond character creator?
If this is a new purchase, sometimes it takes a bit to register throughout the system. I would suggest checking your entitlements: tap on your user name in the upper right corner of this page. Choose Account, then the Marketplace tab. Under the Account Entitlements section, look to see if it says you are out of sync, if so, tap the sync button,.

the Tortle race is fully included within the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount.
Please check out the support thread for that product.
Make sure you have set the source toggle on your character to include Critical Role.
