Hey, couple of minor issues with the Variant Aasimar race:
It has the Feature Healing Hands - the Volo's guide Aasimar's had this, but the DMG variant did not. See Modifying a Class (DMG)
Under Celestial Legacy - Lesser restoration correctly notes that this spell can be cast as a once and recharges with a long rest. But the listing above shows it as "At Will". Was expecting it to mirror how the Variant Tiefling display's on the character screen it for "Devil's Tongue"
Bump - healing hands is still not showing up as an action for variant aasimars. It can obviously be added as a custom action, but we cannot keep track of whether we have used it or not that way. Any chance this could be added?
Thank you - because we have access to Volo's Guide and not the DM guide, we are only able to use Volo's for our character builds, therefore it would be great to have healing hands incorporated. Is that just not an option?
Everyone with a DDB account has access to the Variant Aasimar race from the DMG, as it has been made available for free. Or do you mean that your DM isn't allowing it? I'm surprised to hear that healing hands isn't spelled out for the Aasimar from Volo's, but I can't check that as I don't have those races on DDB.
I just checked; if you have Volo's from DnDBeyond, healing hands does show up, under features with a long rest (only checked protector, not the other non-variants)
So...THAT is a bug of a different color. But you (or at least your DM) does have DDB's Volo right?
Better yet; do you have a public link to your character? That might help isolate things.
This "bug" resolves once you hit 3rd level and change your race to the aasimar subtype of your choice - I now see healing hands showing up as actions. I guess 1st level characters only have access to the variant aasimar without the subtypes from DMG?
That wasnt my experience. I created a 1st level Barbarian, as a volo's protector aasimar, and it had healing hands.
The Variant aasimar is DMG, and there are no sub types at all. Only Volo's aasimar have subtypes. So you are either a Dmg variant Aasimar or a Volo Aasimar with a sub type of protector, scourge, or fallen) and out of the four possibilites, the only the DMG variant does not have Healing Hands. The other 3 do at level 1.
So, whats the bug and do you have a public link to a case of it?

Why would you change your race subtype at 3rd level? Races (including subraces) are set at 1st level. The DMG Variant Aasimar doesn't have subtypes; only the Volo's Aasimar does.

Thanks!

Hi Nthal,
thanks for reporting this - there does indeed seem to be a difference between what is listed for the race and what appears on the character sheet.
The description and stats that shows during character build
The abilities showing on the character sheet

Thanks.
What about the second concern. The racial spell casting should resemble the Tiefling one. Do you want this as a separate post?
Nope, this is fine as it is - it's listed and the team are aware. :)

Both of these issues are still present with Variant Aasimar.

Variant Aasimar DON'T have healing hands. See Stormknights post above.

I think I figured it out. Our dm hadn't shared volo's with us when we made our characters, so I had to change "races" part way through. Here is the link if folks want to see: https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/Satrae/characters/4437014 (or https://ddb.ac/characters/4437014/lBpk5P)
That makes sense now. So...working as intended!
