WotC told DDB that they were not to allow us to make homebrew base equipment. DDB has to honor that stuff. WotC finally gave DDB the okay on that a little while ago, but for a whole host of other stupid reasons they have to basically finish redesigning most of the website to allow them to add stuff like that. (Don’t ask, if you really curious I’ve explained it a bunch of times in other threads.)
I am dying for this feature, either being able to modify a d6 damage die to a dagger so I can get the thrown property on my recalling shortswords I am making for our homebrew campaign, or the ability to put properly set range mods on a melee weapon with the thrown trait on it. Either would achieve what I wish.

You could start with either a handaxe or javelin as both are already 1d6 damage weapons with the thrown property. You would just need to add finesse, and in the case of the handaxe change the damage type to piercing.
I also would love this feature, I wanted to beef up my longbow to a D10. You can in fact add a modifier on weapons that is "damage, longbow, DEX modifier and then can specify D10", but it does not work and the bow will only do D8. Looking forward to when this can change.
You can choose heavy crossbow which is a d10 but then you might not be proficient with it. It will have the heavy and loading tied to it which you can use the modifier "ignore weapon property" Heavy and loading to get rid of those listed.

I'm creting a magic item where a shortsword damage dice is a d4 not a d6, but was unable to change it. How can i do it?
That is not currently possible. You will have to start with a d4 weapon like a sickle.

Would really love for this feature to be added, and I know commenting on the thread might help.

Please add this feature!

Just throwing in my two cents that this feature would be extremely nice.

Thank you very much, @IamSposta, this is pretty much what I was aiming for, for my new homebrew weapon.
Happy to help.
