Ok, noticed this when I was messing around in Homebrew with using the Palm Pistol. The range on it for such a small firearm doesnt seem to be correct. Below is taken from the information given when you add it to your Equipment or look at it there, with the Ammunition property trait missing from it Range doesnt show up in the Equipment page when you look at it's Detail Page, and Palm Pistol doesnt show up in the DMG listing of firearms, but the weapon does show up when you bring it up to add it as Equipment page.
I've included below both non-firearm, and firearm, weapons when it comes to size and their ranges. Below are copied from the relevant pages for such
Crossbow, hand 75 gp 1d6 piercing 3 lb. Ammunition (range 30/120), light, loading Crossbow, light 25 gp 1d8 piercing 5 lb. Ammunition (range 80/320), loading, two-handed Crossbow, heavy 50 gp 1d10 piercing 18 lb. Ammunition (range 100/400), heavy, loading, two-handed
When you then compare it to other firearms, you can see where the question on its range being correct or not comes in, specially when it comes up next to other firearms.
A Palm Pistol having a 40/160 puts its base range up there with a Musket and Revolver, yet beating them on its max range and when you look at things like a Hand Crossbow, also a Light weapon, then the 40/160 has to be incorrect.
PS: Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but couldnt find it in my search and travels on the forum.
The Palm Pistol is unofficial homebrew content that is on DND beyond as a part of their partnership with Critical Role, so It cant really be compared to anything other than the other Critical Role guns that are a part of the Gunslinger Fighter Class. If you look at the guns that are a part of that class, which I have linked to you here, then it fits in with the established ranges. You can tell that a weapons is a part of the Gunslinger Fighter Subclass if they have a misfire score. Anything without a misfire score isn't comparable to the Palm Pistol because it is not a part of its homebrew.

However, that being said it shouldnt be showing up with Critical Role UNCHECKED. Also, the ranges listed are from the DMG, which overrides Critical Role's UA, which I am quite aware of as being UA, on Gunslinger. It's not listed as Homebrew, therefore is incorrect with its range no matter how you point it out. So therefore it's bugged to be showing up within a character sheet.
Also, Critical Role is NOT UA in itself, its officially part of the D&D Multiverse, therefore the stat's listed are outdated in it for said pistol ranges. I also point you to the DMG again for such again.
The Gunslinger is UA content and is a part of Mathew Mercer's Homebrew for Critical role. It is not in the Wildmount book that was published on Dnd Beyond and is still homebrew. The range for the weapon is correct as it is listed on the website. The Palm Pistol is a weapon introduced with the Gunslinger class because it has a misfire score. It is a different weapon from any other weapon. If you disagree with the way the weapon is set up then you don't have to use it, but there is nothing incorrect about the item listing on DnD beyond.
I will say it again one more time for total clarity. The Palm Pistol was designed by Mat Mercer and is a part of his homebrew and is on Dnd Beyond because of their partnership with Critical Role. It was not included in the Wildmount book and is still UA content that happens to be a very popular homebrew. As such, it may not be balanced to the other weapons in the game. It's integration on Dnd Beyond is the correct stats for the item.
I agree that it should be toggleable as equipment if you don't have the appropriate content enabled, however that is not the way that the Gunslinger and thusly any weapon that has the Misfire trait like the Palm Pistol were put into the system on the website and is not toggleable.
The Gunslinger is not UA (Unearthed Arcana/playtest material), UA being material officially released by Wizards of the Coast to be playtested.
The Gunslinger is an unofficial, homebrew subclass made freely available to people on D&D Beyond as part of DDB's on-going sponsorship of Critical Role.

Firearms were around long before Critical Role was, they are part of Artificers and part of that world if a DM has it in there.
PS: Your post also shows how OP the firearms are within Critical Role system.

Apologies, I was under the impression that UA meant Unofficial Content as well as the Unearthed Arcana. Like a generalized term.

No worries, UA is specific term to mean playtest material from Wizards of the Coast
