might have been on twitch or was a post by Adam Bradford (aka BadEye) that I read about the release sorry forget which one as listened to twitch dndbeyond vids and read a few forums here that were updated since last wednesday
There has been absolutely no word from anyone to suggest that the release would be on a specific date. They have been avoiding giving a date for a reason. A rumor is a rumor for a reason, and should be disregarded as such.

Tell em to do their best. I'm sure the community can wait a bit more for a polished product rather than get a rushed product.
In my humble experience, once a 1st-time player rolls their stats, the most common question I hear is, "What should I make?" Often I ask them what kind of WoW character they made, then work from there, but there should be some kind of short questionnaire to help these types of players along.
Also, if several people are using DND Beyond at the same time, there should be additional functionality. Pinging when it's your initiative, when someone's at low health and you have a spell to heal them, MAP-MAKING, keeping track of loot, trading between players...
My request is to have an avatar creator to fill that always empty Portrait of character for those of us who can not draw. I think it would be awesome if we could actually see what we looked like. Also just really hate having a big empty box on my sheet.
I agree, I would much rather wait for a polished product. They did say phase 2 would launch this month on the Stream of Annihilation. They did not give an exact day though.

I am going to echo that I'd rather they wait and take their time. A well made polished product is far more important to me than getting something right now.
Something else I would like to see in regards to spells is a; "duration tracker". It could be something as simple as a button next to a spell that has a duration that starts at "0" and when you cast it you click the button and it goes to "1". Then each round you can click it again.

This would be great. I would say to add the option for time rather than just a counter though.

Probably both options. Add turn, and in that case it adds 6 seconds, or add a concrete number of minutes or whatever. But I agree, the idea is pretty nice, although I would say it suits the combat tracker more than the character sheet

If you are going to include a duration tracker for spells or conditions (which to me is low priority compared to many things), I would rather see this 1) count down from the max number(s), and 2) be tied to an initiative tracker for periods of a minute or less. But again, this is not a priority for me. I can always use dice, hash marks, a calculator, or even memory most of the time.
If it hasnt already been mentioned, I'd like to bring up a Concentration flag. This would rwmind a player that s/he has got a concentration spell up. Optional features would be to remind you to roll to maintain if you are dmaged, and maybe warn a player before picking another concentration spell.
I am not sure if this has already been suggested before now, but what about having a function somewhere on the main area of the sheet where you could select a long or short rest, instead of resetting everything yourself?

with the option to undo, and restore things back to before the rest in the event its hit in error or something happens to interrupt the rest

Undo is an important option to have for everything (along with a change log). I can't begin to tell you the amount of times I have written in new hp before realizing I had resistance, or someone read a spell wrong and rolled the wrong die for damage, or...
A dwarf with a canoe on his back? What could go wrong?
Naaa. Can't wait!! So far I'm so hyped as I can get!!

I really, REALLY like the idea of the questionnaire. Something like "Do you prefer to play melee or ranged?" "Magic, music, weapons or just fists?".
And about the extra funcionalities, I guess they'll be coming on Phase III, with the combat tracker and campaign manager.

Make it like 15 pages long. Like the Character Folio.
Also something that calculates the total weight of all the equipment AND the characters weight. For more fun

I agree an undo would be a great feature.
