I have been making characters and such in my own character creator but have been added to a campaign and would like to transfer and assign that character to my new campaign but have no idea how without recreating the character completely. This would be nice if i could just assign my own character to the new campaign
Are you using the app? Because I don’t think you can use the app to do it, you gotta use the website, you can even do it from your phone. Follow this link: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters). There you will see a list of all your characters. Find the one you want and click “Leave Campaign” as shown in the image below.
Then follow this link and click on your new campaign: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/my-campaigns). At the top you will find the “join” link in blue, click “copy link” as shown in the image below and paste the link into your browser’s URL bar and hit Enter.
There you will see a list of your characters that you can join the campaign with, select your character as shown in the image below.
Then scroll aaallllllll the way to the bottom and click the big, blue “Join With This Character” button as shown in the image below.
So.... as the DM, I want to place temporary characters into a campaign from a previous campaign- how do I do that without having to regen the entire character and inventory? I've tried using several tabs to pull up the character in its original campaign but its now that I'm running multiple games- trying to save some time and reuse characters/npc's is hard when stats from one campaign differ from the next due to player interaction.
You can always use the Copy option on the character and place them in a different campaign or just have copies laying around. You will have to change the name by something though otherwise it will always keep the same information from the original. Example: You copy Lin it will say "Copy of Lin". You will need to change the name to something like Lin2 otherwise it will stay exactly like the original. If you make the Copy it might join the same campaign which you just go into your character list and click Remove from campaign for the Copy.
This is great! Been bothering my players a lot and we even thought, they have to manually redo their whole 9th-level charakter for our campaign. thanks a lot! :)

I don't see how to do what it says to do.

Two years later and this is still helpful! Thank you <3
This was very helpful (and unintuitive), thanks!
