I own the players handbook, the dungeon masters guide, and the monster manual as well as several others. But how do I add the content to my d&d account without buying the book on again digitally?

Darn, was looking forward to using DnD Beyond, but guess I won't be. Starting to get into the game and DMing, but I already spent a lot of money on the physical copies cuz I like having the physical books. Looks like we will be staying away from Dnd Beyond.

There is no way at present. This is a classic blunder of companies, not giving the long standing fans a reason to transition to a new system, so then the new fans that do join lack the player base that is elsewhere, so they don't last and in the end the product fails because the focus was on short term profits, not long term goals. I don't want to use their online stuff when I have well over a thousand dollars worth of books I don't want to repurchase, it is easier to play other ways.
Well there is a good reason for this, if you go into a store like the barns and nobles in my town you have almost every book and you go in there scan a QR code or something on the book without buying it and tada. Plus people will 100% post whatever is in the book so you don’t have to even go in the store. People who have every book post the Code or something online and everyone wins, one person buys it, the whole world gets it wiz kids would go out of business. So while i wish I could become a level 20(19) wizard and cast wish for this to happen it would stop all dnd for the future because wiz kids went bankrupt.
If I buy the latest hardcover bestseller at Barnes & Noble, I don't automatically get the eBook version. If I want it in digital format I have to buy it again in that format. I don't see why D&D Beyond digital copies are any different. Now there are some RPG companies that offer free PDFs of their books if you buy the hardcover directly from them (Chaosium being the one that first leaps to my mind), but DDB digital copies offer a lot more functionality than simple PDFs, so I don't have any problems paying extra for extra functionality that my hardcover books can't give me.
I understand that they charge for the digital books but they should be much cheaper then the physical books. Seeing how it cost alot for digital I don't want to buy 12 books that I have physical copies of again. Kind of a bummer. Or they should have a huge discount for people who have bought the physical version. Just my thoughts.

You can use the homebrew tool and time to put your physical books in DDB, just don't publish the IP you homebrew in. I would gladly pay $30 not to have to do that work, and often with sales it is even less money to buy the digital copy. You can buy piecemeal things from most books to have here on DDB and the total price of the book is reduced by the parts you have bought.
Books on DDB are so much more than a pdf copy of a physical book. If you just want a pdf then they sell compendium only copies of the books for around $20.

when will this be fixed? to reflect a more honorable business model
It's not going to be fixed because it's not broken. You can either purchase the content in this digital format, which is a different medium than the physical books you are holding in your hands, or you can go through the time and effort to use the free tools to recreate the parts of the books you want.
they need to add a QR code in the books that add it to your account but it needs to be activated when you uy the book. that way people can't walk in and get the book for free.

There is no way to "add" your physical books to your D&D Beyond account, you will need to buy them digitally if you want to use them on D&D Beyond.

Another reason why I won't be giving Wizards any more of my hard-earned.

Short answer? You don't.

DnD is not owned by wiz kids but by wizards of the coast (WotC).
other than that there are options to do this (e.g: unique redeem codes) and having the books be in somekind of packaging.
For now the only way to get physicaly owned books on ddb is to homebrew the things you need from it

You can create "Custom Items" that you find in any of the books, bit it could become a hassle to do that. I've just been adding things as I need them.

This makes no sense. Not denying it's true, but it still makes no sense, especially for a hybrid game.
