There are many stat blocks like "Guard" that don't have a specific Race/Species attached. It would be great for a quick customization if we could have an option to assign a race in the encounter builder. This would be a great quick way to add flavor to fights and a quick reference.
Before WotC bought DDB, there was a plan to add a monster builder that let you quickly homebrew and modify monsters by applying existing templates like and other existing features.
After the WotC house cleaning, who knows anymore. WotC doesn't talk to us like the fired devs used to.
