It's rounding the end of May and there's been no public response from the company or Wizbro on this. We barely hear from community managers and moderators, and even with their interaction there's no actual guarantee that anything will be addressed or listened to. "I've passed it up the chain" or "your feedback is being submitted" tells us nothing about an actual conversation happening with the people who can make the changes.
I've submitted my thoughts respectfully to customer support, interacted on socials, posted in forums, and nothing. I posted the thought on a compromise being 'pack-only' purchases to guarantee larger minimum transactions, something people will likely be able to monetarily digest more easily; as well as that all physical books ship in wrapping with a single use code so we can get the bundle deal from supporting our FLGS and getting alt-covers.
I've already cancelled my subscription and put the removal of a la carte in the reasoning. I don't plan on buying anything else from this site and seems the majority of people who are aware of the issue feel the same. I was practically a walking ad for DDB cause of how much I praised the accessibility, low barrier to entry, and convenience. Now I don't trust them anymore.
Thing about community managers, as proven with the Helldivers community managers recently and the community managers (except one) here - is they don't give a shit about their community. And developers/company owners care about nothing other than us lining their pockets.
I followed the instructions of messaging support for a discount code on my a la carte purchases - I've waited 6 days and had no response.
The DnDBeyond customer support have proven that this method does not work. They claim that email support is available 24/7, so why the hell have I waited 6 days and had no response?

That's surprising. Not used to that long a wait from them even currently.

I've sent three follow up messages and got nothing back.. absolutely useless.
Could be sign of an internal upheaval? (A good sign) Not holdin my breath though.

DId you know? The DDB marketplace has REMOVED the option for purchasing one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters "a la carte". Now you ALWAYS have to buy the ENTIRE book instead.
Unhappy? UNSUBSCRIBE and Let them know your thoughts!
Honestly, this might be the straw which causes me to drop my subscription, which is hilarious as it's theoretically a change which should require me to *keep* it, but much of my support of dndbeyond was on goodwill as well as convenience, and if they're burning convenience for non-£100 members, they're burning my goodwill too. They're really out here encouraging the worse service for greater theoretical profits till they burn this thing to the ground, huh.

Yeah I cancelled my sub too, I put in the reasoning that it was the removal of a la carte and I won’t be buying anything at all until they bring it back.
so, if they brought back ala carte (and/or legendary bundle) tomorrow... is that enough? suppose they claimed it was back by popular demand with no further comment. would you do a big sweaty cartoon "fwheeew!" and go back to buying from the DDB marketplace again?

unhappy at the way in which we lost individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
tell them you don't like features disappeared quietly in the night: providefeedback!

Possibly though not sure, but I would renew my subscription.

Yes, the boycott lasts as long as the feature is removed, though I'd be hesitant to continue supporting as much. I would certainly buy the new sourcebooks digitally when they come out, I still plan on getting print copies from my FLGS regardless cause I want those alt-covers. I'd restart my membership for sure. But on top of that some form of public acknowledgement would really be needed to begin to rebuild trust. I'm even open to a few concessions, one being 'pack only' purchases and two being all physical books come with one-time use codes to get the digital for $10, the same deal as getting the bundle directly from DDB.
Its really sad to see Wizards fall into cooperate greed and now look its players to have to go a whole book for 1-2 things they need. whelp time to find a third party system
Pretty impressive number of members for years with very few posts posting about this change in all of these threads, but we are just the vocal minority 🤦

Congratulations! You have learned the meaning of Boycott
Any update from WOTC about a-la carte purchases? They've been silent since they announced the change.
They presumably want to see the change in actual sales numbers before simply deciding, normally over a few months.
Sadly, that is not true in most corporations. A change this large has to be pushed by a visionary, who convinces some high muckety-muck manager that this should be done, and they spend a lot of engineering hours to make the change. There's a huge amount of inertia built up.
But it's worse than that.
There are several middle managers and maybe some company VPs whose careers live or die based on the success of those changes. It is not in their interest to say, "Oh, we were wrong. We're making less money. Let's go back to the other way." Without being mean or evil they will do everything they can to make this change succeed ... or at least to delay admitting defeat.
They will tinker at the margins, hoping it turns the losses around. They'll incorporate AI. They'll use snappier graphics. They'll have sexier voices entice the buyers.
The bigger the change (relative to the company) the harder it will be to admit they were wrong and reverse course.

We have a long wait in front of us.
I was just stating the basics. Yes, office politics get in there too

Funny you mention that. I've been paying attention to the turnover of VPs and product managers at WotC in D&D and DDB and there's a good bit going on. Here's what's really funny, a lot of the new folks are former Amazon employees. I don't know if that's a coincidence or if it's becasue one executive knew these folks when he/she worked there so they're recruiting from Amazon. Just an observation.

if one's only concern is what feature was removed, then boycott fits. felicitations, i guess! if one is instead most concerned with the fly-by-night nature of how the feature was removed, then it's more likely one is facing a change in spending habits (which just so happens to support the boycott). lifting a boycott wouldn't necessarily mean return of trust in the provider.
i mean, these aren't our books. i "purchased" (and would like to "purchase" again in the future) more books on DDB than were strictly necessary to populate a number of character sheets or encounter builder encounters. we're all leasing access to digital licenses here and that should require some significant trust that the books will be there when we need them. i'm interested to know whether more people were shaken out of trust for that model or if more just want the convenience back. i'd start a poll, but i'm not interested in keeping up with comments afterward, assuming it didn't just get slapped down by mods.

I'm in the camp of shaken out of trust. I don't really care if all features or offers they reneged on are restored at this point, they've played their hand and shown their colors.

Please bring back ala carte purchases. Feels like a tipping point moment in a tradition of unforced errors.
