https://www.dndbeyond.com/games has the 2025 planned updates to Maps. So far? Two out of six features delivered while we've completed 10 of the 12 months in the year...
I'm running a 100% online game. The Reveals and Campaign Console features are something I'd love to actually see by end of year.
Of those things I hope they prioritize the Reveals, although I'd love to know more of what they have in mind for Campaign Console.
I didn't expect animated battle maps. Ever.
Animated maps is nice to have as a feature, but it is a bit misplaced now. Maps app need more useful upgrades and functionalities. Like you said. Reveals, DM's console, etc... Even 3d dice is not mandatory.
Here the answer from latiajacquise on reddit and the discord server
"Hey everyone! If you're not familiar, I'm one of the D&D community managers; you may have seen me posting here and there in the subreddit.
We're very happy to hear you're all enjoying Maps and are excited for future updates. It's always our goal to keep you informed; the Maps team is working on an updated schedule for the unreleased features mentioned here.
We appreciate your patience and will share more in the coming weeks!"
I was really hopeful that the maintenance plan today would have included some kind of an update, but they haven't even taken down the road map this close to the end of the year. If the update isn't coming, they're painting themselves into a lose-lose situation here.
I do agree that the AI rule bought is my least desirable picture at the moment.
Art & Handout Reveals in Maps – Coming December 16
On December 16, we plan to launch a new feature in the Maps VTT that lets DMs reveal art and handouts to players. We’ll have a full walkthrough when the feature goes live.
There are three features from our 2025 Maps VTT roadmap that, rather than being rushed out, we’re giving the time and thought they need.
3D Dice Rolling in Maps (Early 2026): We are taking extra time to rebuild our dice engine so that dice rolling appears consistent across everyone’s screens.
Rules Assistant (Early 2026): This rules reference assistant serves as a searchable encyclopedia that helps keep your game moving. Housed within the Maps VTT tool, it is currently in internal testing. It just needs a little bit more testing time and should release in alpha soon.
Campaign Console (TBD): Based on our own internal feedback, we realized the original concept didn’t solve enough DM pain points. The team has shifted focus to a broader, more flexible campaign tool that should solve more DM needs.

Exactly. What is happening with Maps? We are waiting for new functionalities. Do not let us get back to other VTTs guys, please.
They're apparently working on visibly rolling dice on the screen.
This should get more attention. Somebody mention exactly that on Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/dndbeyond/s/1ljTEomidh
Agreed I would really love to have the digital dice rolling feature both for DM & players.
Following on from what happened to Sigil over the last few months, are we likely to see Maps go the same way?
Forever DM. I began running games back in the mid-90s.
Experienced D&D DM, Call of Cthulhu Keeper, World of Darkness Storyteller.
I don't think so, given their partnership with czepeku maps. I do hope we get something in the coming weeks.
It's unlikely, completely different applications by different teams with different scopes.

A quick post feedback from the team would be nice tho

They certainly can skip the "Rules Assistant" BS. We don't need to waste precious time and resources forcing shitty AI into everything...

That's the roadmap that I don't think is going to hit in the next month. It's at 2/6 features.

I am still hoping. I don't understand what do you mean by this?
I was using text-to-speech; my apologies for the error.
I actually prefer 3D dice rolling and reveals before that.
My ideal would be to recieve the updates in the order listed if not all at once.
