So, having just played a session, in which I, as the GM, had two character sheets open for NPCs, plus the old encounter runner. macOS 15.7.4, Safari 18.6:
At some point my machine started lagging (not bad network -- the machine was slow enough to notice) in zoom. I don't know if it was the new die roller, but that's something that has never happened before. (It also wasn't swapping.) I turned off my camera to bring the processing load down,, which worked.
Communication of rolls is very erratic. Some don't get to the log, some get to the log but not the person rolling them. I had one player who didn't see their initiative roll, but it was in the initiative order. Two others rolled, had it go to the log (IIRC), but not the order.
Rolls with advantage/disadvantage weren't reliable, at least in the encounter runner. (I don't remember whether I had a problem rolling it from character sheets)
Not showing the roll, just the result, makes it hard to tell whether advantage/disadvantage has been applied.
I eventually turned off graphical rolling on the character sheets, and things worked a lot better for me. I couldn't turn it off in the encounter runner.
I never even wanted to see other people's dice bouncing around to begin with, and the synchronization issues it's creating are a real problem, not to mention the issues with the new graphical roller not always completing rolls.
The new dice roller is fine for me with one exception. My only problem is the dice are taking up to much of the screen, I often find myself waiting for the dice to disappear to see what my actual result was and to see whatever the dice was blocking (the dice usually cover something). It would be nice if we had a way to adjust the size or have the ability to stop the dice from showing up on screen but still getting the math.
The new dice roller has completely bugged my use on iPad chrome browser. Pages just keep reloading or failing completely. Needs fixing or I end my subscription
From what I've been able to deduce, a recent change of cookie package lead to a lot of this memory strain. I think it's part of the age verification stuff based on the setup. The new dice & backlog update didn't help, but aren't the primary issue here.

How do I turn off the horrible sounds of the digital dice rolls as DM in the VTT. We want 3D dice rolls but not the poor quality sounds that aren't even dice sounds.
Just finished running a game, all in person with one player over discord with a conference room speaker. I use Owlbear for VTT, my players use DDB for character sheets and dice rolling, and I use encounters builder (not Maps VTT) just for easy access to custom monster lists and rolling large numbers of dice.
I feel this was a fix no one asked for, except maybe the size for accessibility reasons, which is great but should have been an optional toggle and not forced. My virtual player absolutely hates the new roller. The dice are too big, can no longer click to make them go away, can't right click to roll with advantage/disadvantage anymore, they stay on the screen too long, lag out my other players chromebooks and ipads, rolls weren't making it into the log reliably, and the sounds are distracting. I'm going to have to spend extra time next session walking everyone through the dice settings to turn down the graphics, turn off the sound, etc. More than likely we'll be turning off the 3d dice rollers, which is a total bummer.
As a player I do like seeing my own dice rolls, but I dislike seeing other players rolls muck up my screen when I'm trying to plan my next actions, especially since I can't click to make them go away anymore. I do not see any way to turn off seeing other players rolls while still seeing the results in the log, seems like they made it all or nothing. Am I missing something?
I get the idea, but the execution is poor. If you want to turn it off you don't see your dice which is a shame but if I roll to DM and the toggle in the dice roller left under the screen is set to everyone it wouldn't work. Also If a player rolls multiple dices it almost crashes the browser. It is a shame.
It does not matter if they fix the homebrew stuff if they roll out other features that drive people away. So far my experience with this new feature, which I thought was only supposed to be on the VTT screen, is showing up on my normal character screen and slows everything on the site down.
I would often find the result bar under the dice. And the dice would last longer than the bar.
The dice are to big. I understand having the ability to have larger dice but it looks like its interfering with the visual rolling. The dice are not bouncing far enough away from each other to fall flat. Bigger dice need longer bounces.
And show the math.If I toss 2 20;s for advantage/disadvantage i just want to see each dices number. I didn't need a special button for it.
The previous iteration of the dice roller didn't seem to have any bad effects in my browser. This one locked up my D&D Beyond tab so hard that other tabs had trouble rendering. Pretty much every player in today's session complained of sluggishness.
This feels like a misstep where users were not consulted ahead of time.
I know my particular OS/browser/desktop environment setup is particularly niche and would never be supported directly, so I'm not asking for it to work. It would be nice to perhaps give me an easy toggle to prevent someone on another continent from locking up my browser just because they decided to roll fancy dice.
They took away my Gemstone dice, which were my favorite. Okay, they offered "replacements", but their idea of a "multicolored" set was the Blacksmith dice, which are 7 different shades of brown and gray. Even the plain Pigment dice would have been a better choice, then at least I'd have color.
But it turns out that doesn't matter, because I had to turn off 3d dice because DDB decided it would be a great idea for the dice graphics to show on everyone else in my group. And no, "roll to the GM" is not a fix for that; I want the rest of my party to be able to see my rolls in the log, I just don't want to interrupt their planning for their own turn every time I roll a dozen damage dice. Especially since it lagged and disrupted their own window for my DM and at least one other player. I also ended up having to do my rolls on my phone because the tab was lagging and freezing up on my own desktop.
And of course, they decided to take away the separate, persistent window for seeing my dice results. I can even understand wanting to consolidate all that in the log window -- except that now I only get a brief popup of the number, which half the time is obscured by said dozen damage dice, which DDB have made giant to make sure they obscure as much of my screen as possible. Okay, I can open the log... except that every time I click on the dice roller the log window promptly closes and I have to open it again and again to see the results.
I ask in all gentleness, was this update actually beta tested with real players and games? Because it's hard to believe it was and still had all the above issues.
Our group had the same problems in our session last night. Some turned off the 3D dice rolling so that it only shows up in the log, some changed it to Rolling to DM, but that just inflicted it on only the DM.
Selecting Rolling to DM also means that the roll doesn't appear in the game log, essentially a workaround that causes other problems.
I can see that when they thought of the idea of seeing everyone else's dice rolls it sounded like a good idea, but they obviously didn't play test it. The reality is that it just gets in the way for all the other players who are not rolling, but trying to plan their next turn. Combined with the lag it causes and the crashes we were getting on iPads it ended up being a pain.
There needs to be an option "I don't want to see everyone else's 3D dice rolls", which essentially puts it back the way it was for that player, but allows other players to continue to see other player's 3D rolls on their screen if they want.

I have to admit that I don't understand the desire for the feature in the first place. I don't doubt it exists, but I just don't get it.
1 March 26 - Dices appear on Laptop... but on all the tablets the dice appears like pixilated shadows, we cant see the dices... try to update all the tablets and play with settings but problems persist. This feature should have roll for self only, roll for log, &, see log rolls... and should have been playtested in beta version before being implemented to all so to not happen before/during a d&d gameplay.
Having the entire party make rolls (perception checks, etc.) really sucks when everyone's dice is rolling on everyone else's character sheets. Hard to tell which roll is yours and which dice are everyone else at the table! Seriously, who thought this was a good idea?

While Playing with my Group I noticed two things.
1) One Player Couldn't use the Dice Roller on his Sheet or on Maps VTT
2) When testing on the site and the Character Sheets the Dice rolls do not work but roll on visibly on MAPS
3) Maps was Lagging when Rolling/Dice Results
The new dice roller has completely bugged my use on iPad chrome browser. Pages just keep reloading or failing completely. Needs fixing or I end my subscription

My entire party opened up google dice roller after about 2 minutes of this insanity...

Congratulations DnDBeyond developers, you've made your system unplayable for me today. I really hope these issues get fixed.
In today's session, first since this update, we were really annoyed by this update.
It makes the whole web-app slower, causing the site to crash multiple times for me on my laptop, even crashing my whole browser.
Even equipping/un-equipping something from my inventory caused the site to crash.
We decided to switch over to physical dice for the session!
I could not find or access the log.
I would often find the result bar under the dice. And the dice would last longer than the bar.
