I made a nature cleric in my home game, and my DM said that I could add martial weapon proficiency due to the character’s background and actions. When I tried to add the proficiency, it wouldn’t let me add the martial category and instead made me check each individual weapon. This made my “weapon skills” section kind of a chaotic mess. Am I just missing something, or has this not been introduced to the site?

Has this been resolved? I'm going through the same thing with my forge cleric. :<
I would also love that ability to add weapon groups rather than individual weapons. I just tried to add firearms proficiencies for my modern-day campaign and had to add each gun type individually.
Im gonna go with no. Ive been fiddling around with homebrew and character sheets all day for a future campaign and have created a list of small exceptionally frustrating holes within the character creation system here on dnd beyond
Its also really interesting because, specifically with firearms, there is no way to grant proficiency in individual guns through feats, backgrounds or even subclass features but then on the character sheet as a DM there is no way to give them the entire category, just the individual weapons. Its super annoying
Definitely shows that they are still building on an old system. I think they want to address a lot of these basic features but for sure have their hands full with all the new releases from WoTC, new (shiny) features, and getting the mobile player app up to par. Still frustrating that the basic functions aren't being addressed.

I know it's tedious but for the weapons like firearms that don't have a proficiency option built in go into your players items click the weapon and add it manually to the weapons to hit or to dmg whichever you needing. Hope this helps

There are feats for adding whole weapon/armour categories so you can just add those or an edited version of them.
Takes like 30 seconds if you want to edit feat first. Not even 10 if not doing that.

Could really use that feature...
