If you have a monk with a quarterstaff, once your Martial Arts damage die scales past 1d6, the quarterstaff's damage changes to your martial arts damage, which is correct. However, the two-handed damage also scales, which is not. You can either use the weapon's normal damage or substitute your martial arts damage. In other words, when my martial arts hits 1d8, the quarterstaff shows 1d8/1d10 and it should be just 1d8.
Also, I wasn't able to find a way to add a range to a custom attack; I can mark the attack as ranged, but it doesn't seem to offer a way to display what that range is.
Also, it appears that Proficiency: Self from Elven Chain is not available in Homebrew items creation.
I love the character generator and sheets, but two problems so far.
1. Expanded spells from the Warlock patron are not added to the character's list of spell. As corrected by Dave_Rich.
2. Extra Cantrip from Spell Sniper is not added to the spell list either, and the spell's attack does not appear in the list of attacks for the character.
Warlocks don't automatically know their patron spells; they're merely added to the list of spells they can choose from. This is actually working properly, at least on my fiend warlock. When I add spells, the fiend spells are listed as options.

Thanks for that, I've amended my post accordingly.
It would be nice if the Warlock spells scaled their damage on the character sheets for printing, though. (e.g., I have a 7th level Warlock. His default spell level is therefore 4th. Ergo, when he casts, say, Chill Touch it should be 2d8 damage, and Witch Bolt should be 4d12. These show up correctly on-screen but not on the exported character sheet.)
I've noticed that I cannot add items to my inventory if the character does not have the skill for using the item. An example is:
Warlock with Simple Melee Weapon, I cannot add a Rapier into its equipment inventory at all. This shouldn't be the case as the warlock certainly can pick up a rapier from loot and carrier it. I see this occurring when I try to add any sword to my warlock's equipment.
Proficiency with a weapon gives you a proficiency bonus when attacking but it does not limit the character from actually using the weapon, you just do not add your proficiency bonus to the attack role.
So there are two things I'm seeing wrong here.
1) I cannot add these items (swords for example) to my inventory because I do not have Martial Weapon proficiency.
2) I cannot use the item without a proficiency bonus per the rules if I don't have the proficiency.
"Proficiency with a weapon allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with that weapon. If you make an attack roll using a weapon with which you lack proficiency, you do not add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll."
Note that it does not bar you from using the weapon.
Anyone else find that the "randomized" character generator doesn't prioritize the primary or secondary ability scores of the class? For example, Fighters are generated with Intelligence as the highest score, not Strength, etc.
Randomize definitely randomizes. We intend to build out the "Quick Build" method of character creation to create more optimized versions of each class from levels 1 to 20.
That way, a new player can come directly into the builder, choose a class and level, and be ready to go with something that will work well.
This will of course be useful for NPCs too.
My hope is to get that added fairly soon - we'll keep you updated!
I don't know if this has already been discussed but I would like to see support for animal companion/familiar and cohorts stat blocks being on your character sheet.

That's one of the highest-priority things they're working on, actually.

Untick the "Proficient" box when adding items and it will allow you to select items you're not proficient with. Once you've added it and wield it, it will not apply your proficiency bonus.

Not sure if this has been discussed (I searched, but couldn't find anything) but there seems to be a few things "lost in translation" when trying to use the Export Character Sheet feature.
Example: my Fighter Battlemaster doesnt have any of his Combat Maneuvers listed (or described), and his fighting style only says "fighting style" instead of Archery. The Archery Bonus isn't included in his crossbow attacks, and none of the feats he chose (or what they do) are mentioned. Just "Ability Score Improvement" or "Feat". It also seems odd to have some of his human racial traits listed, when they simply say "language, skills, feat." Especially when there is already a pleace for them where they are properly mentioned, like the skills colum or "other proficiencies and languages"
I'm sure this is being worked on, but just wanted to throw in my 2 cp just in case. Thank you for reading.
Have bought the 3 core books and Volo's monsters - have started adding characters to campaign and things look good and seem to be going smoothly :)
One issue I did want to raise is something I'd seen others comment on before, and when creating my wife's character was the thing that stood out - namely inventory management of mundane items. As far as I could see there was no way to add things like 'Harpy feather', 'battered notebook' etc without creating a magic item for each of them... unless I missed how to do this. A way to add mundane items on the fly would be good - something that just requires a name and description for example.

You can add individual one off items by going to the other tab then possessions and just typing in the description.
One of my biggest complaints about this site/tool is that it is very much set up like making a character in a video game. It would go a long way to PnP user friendliness in my opinion if it was set up a bit more like filling out a sheet. Sub-screens or popouts could appear when doing specific categories or whatnot but it is still very cumbersome going from an actual sheet to this tool.

I don't know about that. Creating your character on DDB goes in pretty much the same order as if you were following in the PHB and learning how to create it. Idk, in my opinion, if you want to fill out a sheet, you're better off just printing out a sheet and filling it out. And I'm pretty sure PDF sheets with fillable text boxes exist if that's what you want.

If you export the PDF in Adobe Acrobat you can edit the character sheet just like PnP. Younger players are familiar with video games and like using their devices to play games. I think online play capability keeps D&D relevant for the next generation of players.
I'd rather have the wizard style builder. I'm usually right on board with complaints about video game feel, but not here.
It's not necessarily in the order I'd do it, but it works. The biggest change I'd make its to put background earlier. It's just kinda weird where it's at, but I suspect that's the way the PHB proscribes.

I finally pulled up a character on my iPhone. Looks very nice. The hit point tracking seems a bit wonky, but we'll have to see how it actually plays.
