Have bought the 3 core books and Volo's monsters - have started adding characters to campaign and things look good and seem to be going smoothly :)
One issue I did want to raise is something I'd seen others comment on before, and when creating my wife's character was the thing that stood out - namely inventory management of mundane items. As far as I could see there was no way to add things like 'Harpy feather', 'battered notebook' etc without creating a magic item for each of them... unless I missed how to do this. A way to add mundane items on the fly would be good - something that just requires a name and description for example.
You can add individual one off items by going to the other tab then possessions and just typing in the description.
I made a variant tiefling and it asked me which of three options I wanted: Devil's Tongue, Hellfire, or Winged. I chose Devil's Tongue.
But on the digital character sheet, it lists all three feature descriptions instead of just the one I selected and it doesn't list vicious mockery among my spells.
Someone may have already said this, but when you follow the Join Campaign link, and you choose to create a character, it takes you right to the full builder. Could that be changed to take them to the page where you can choose how you want to create it (like with help text, or do the quick builder, or random)? That would be much simpler for my first time players so I can just tell to click Quick Builder.
Thanks!
I thought it was already doing this. If it's not, we'll definitely get that resolved.
Thanks!
Just tried again and it's definitely still taking me straight to character builder without giving me option of standard, quick, or random. The fix will be great as I'm trying to start a campaign with some new players but don't want to send them the link until it's fixed! Thanks!
I'd rather have the wizard style builder. I'm usually right on board with complaints about video game feel, but not here.
It's not necessarily in the order I'd do it, but it works. The biggest change I'd make its to put background earlier. It's just kinda weird where it's at, but I suspect that's the way the PHB proscribes.
You can hop around when creating a character in the builder regardless. Don't have to go just in the order it shows up in.
Made a whole topic about it.. didn`t notice there was a bigger topic related to sheet problems.. Sorry 'bout that mods ;x
I think that there is something wrong with the number of Cantrips allowed to a Lvl 5+ HighElf character. Being a High Elf should allow one cantrip from the wizards list; as stated
Cantrip. You know one cantrip of your choice from the wizard spell list. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for it.
Looking at the Wizards XP table, starting at level 4, the Wizard gains access to 4 Cantrips. Shouldn't those numbers de added to the total cantrips allowed?
I know that this has been raised before, but racial based spells, including cantrips, should really show up in the spells section of the character sheet. (e.g. genasi & tiefling racial spells)

Racial trait cantrips are listed in the spell section but they are not included in the class section, they have their own racial section further down (you have to make sure you choose the cantrip when building the character)
Yes it makes sense when playing a wizard as high elves choose from the wizard list, but what if you are playing any other class, it then wouldn't make sense to combine them as they would be from different lists using different modifiers
If you want all the cantrips to be together consider making them all attacks by using the customisation option inside each spell, that will group them all together in the attack section. maybe in the future there maybe a better solution for these types of situations however for now this is the best i can suggest

As above they should be there just underneath the class listings. However just tried it with a tiefling fighter and they didn't show up in the spell section as there wasn't one, yet when i added a multiclass caster the spell section showed up with both the class and racial casting in the casting section. This could be a bug that may need to be looked at.
Is there any chance of allowing non-standard races be used in the character creator? In 3.5, the monsters had the level adjustment feature so you can play them, but there isn't an indicator in 5e that I've seen.

"Homebrew" races are coming.

Characters can spend downtime days to gain extra language or tool proficiencies — yet I don't see anywhere on the character builder/sheet to add proficiencies beyond what you start with.
They haven't introduced this yet. The way i've got round it is by creating a homebrew magic item that gives you the proficiencies you need and equipping it to your character
This, and make the item a certificate or something. A master's seal for crafting or a diploma for a language.

My level 5 Paladin has 4 first level and 2 second level spells available per the PHB and according to the Spell Slots card here. I cannot select 6 spells, the Prepared Spells count shows 0/5 (24 known), this should be 0/6. I have 4 prepared (Oath spells), but no other spells selected.
Also, is there anyway to make it possible to select Divine Smite as an Attack Spell?

4 first level and 2 second level are the spell slots, not the spells prepared. The amount of spell prepared equals your CHA modifier + half your Paladin level.
For myself I felt 2 easy features missing in the character builder:
1. Button to roll for suggested PHB Traits, Ideals, Bonds and Flaws, along with the personally entered field.
2. Buttons to add items generated directly from starter packs / class items, along with the personally entered field.
Also I feel the wall for feats and archetypes is very poorly implemented, the tool is very crippled without them and it is not adequately explained in the preface that this is only a tester tool and you should not expect to make proper characters with it without some contribution.

It isn't a "tester" tool. It is the free version that contains the free material, that information is all over the site and in the forums. What was free during the beta is still free now, everything else is available for purchase.

Do you like my Boots of Flying?

Will there be a way to integrate optional attributes from the DMG into the character builder, i.e. Sanity, Loyalty?
