Bug: There is no easy way to show what tools are known and if a character has taken expertise in them. This information is buried in the class and backgrounds. It may be a good idea to add tools to the skill block.
Creating a starting-level 15 Dragonborn Warlock after the fashion of Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher.
Race
Allow the user to assign their character's physical characteristics on this page, else include the race-specific average parameter info in the Description tab beneath the text entry fields. Maybe both! If a user changes their mind about their build or complexion to better match their chosen class, it'd be nice to be able to change that without necessarily having to revisit a tab.
Class
The only Martial Archetype option in the dropdown is Champion. I'd like my mock-Geralt to be an Eldritch Knight, I'm sure you all have yet to include the others.
Similar to my ideas in Race, consolidate all choices that affect the user's Proficiencies. Race, Class, and Background are relevant. I'm confident that there could be an elegant way to display, sort, and manipulate these overlapping choices.
Abilities
The Ability Score Improvement (ASI) menu displays only Svirfneblin Magic and Grappler feats.
Generating Ability Scores: It'd be great to have some roll generators à la 4d6 drop lowest. Additionally, it'd be nice to be able to rearrange ability scores by drag and drop. [Ex: STR roll came out to 16, INT ended up at 12. Click and hold, drag STR value to in front of INT value or vice versa for values to switch places.] Likewise, offering the Matt Coleman ability score generation method would be great: roll 4d6 and drop lowest. That's your Strength. Roll again, drop lowest, that's your Dex, etc. If you didn't roll at least two 15s, redo the whole shebang unless the user's going for a not-particularly-heroic character.
Also, some of the more hardcore or experimental PCs may appreciate a roll generator from the game's early days: just 3d6. Brutal.
I'd love if my unfinalized choices from the Class tab: ASI menu were displayed next to the Score Calculations table in the Abilities tab with all relevant information included, plus the option to tweak your choices from ASI for more intuitive ability score assignment. I like having all information pertinent to a final ability score decision in one spot. I'd otherwise like to see my current ability score values displayed next to the ASI dropdown, but that'd be backwards with the current Order of the Tabs.
Description
I'd like the Backgrounds dropdown to precede the Personal Characteristics menu. Then, once navigating the Personal Characteristics, allow a selection from the pre-made Suggested Characteristics instead of having to copy/paste or type it all out. I imagine there's at least a group of people random assignment of the Personal Characteristics. I'm sure you're working on a way to include custom backgrounds, excited to see how that turns out.
As with my comment about the Race tab, providing the race-specific ranges for physical characteristics on this tab would be more intuitive and user-friendly.
Equipment
I'd like a roll randomizer for starting gold. It'd also be nice to select from my Class Starting Equipment within the Manage Equipment (ME)menu. I'd also love to sort by equipment class (martial, simple, ranged, etc.). The current search algorithm supports only selecting items by name and type (longsword, shortbow, etc.). I'd also like to see a summary of the pertinent qualities of each piece of equipment in the MEmenu, or be able to click on the item's name and have that entry expand to include such details. A collapsible menu would be perfect for that.
A character with a higher starting level should see different things on the ME menu than a fresh level one character. Note: I have yet to test a new character, jumped in with my Geralt idea. This may already be the case. Clicking the ADD EQUIPMENT button should have the cursor default to the search field. It'd also be nice to have the option to equip a new piece of equipment from the ADD EQUIPMENT menu. Background starting equipment should be automatically added to your equipment list. If there's a choice involved, a series of prompts where the user can make their choice would be great. Searching for an item such as Iron Pot should be more intuitive. Currently, searching for 'Iron Pot' returns no results because it's not in the word order stored in the database. 'Pot, iron' isn't particularly intuitive.
That's all I have for now. I'm very glad to see an official character building tool available. I'm really looking forward to all the other tools I have yet to play with.
Because background skills are set, either the background choice should be earlier (with previously selected skills greyed out later) or skills should be presented all at the same time with the set skills from race/background shown + then slots for the remaining skill choices. Same with languages. I think this should be just one step to pick all your languages at one time, rather than at two different points of the workflow.
My preferred order of operations that I use with all my D&D groups is - select class, select race, select background, then calculate ability scores with race/class in mind, then apply feats/skills, lastly choose spells. To me "I want to be a sorcerer" is the most important choice and informs the race selection a lot more than "I want to be an elf".
This. Consolidating all the choices that affect a particular outcome is much more user-friendly. The current layout is reminiscent of the book's, which doesn't take full advantage of the different medium.
I'm sure the feedback has been given already but just started and reading forums so I'm playing catch up. In addition to the existing menu or navigation options that take you to editing a character sheet (any area), also add the functionality to make it editable by clicking the section or on the main header. i.e. When I'm just viewing my own created character I need to go "back" somewhere to edit, but say I was reading through Attributes and wanted to slightly tweak it, like clicking in that area bring me to the edit or clicking on the section title "Attributes" allow me to make changes, thus saving extra navigation.
Thanks! Things are looking GREAT!!!

Seconded in full.
I suggest you upvote for visibility. I don't know how the good folk at Beyond are navigating these, but it just seems like a good idea. Also, thirded
Will you be able to edit a character back from a higher level to a lower level? I wanted to see a character at a lower level if I had gone with other options....or lazily validate a character design so it can be fun but not useless before i get up to a higher level.
Setting character level when creating a new character - Accidentally selected level 2 instead of 1 for the starting level, and the drop down menu for level selection removed 1 as an option.
Packs like the explorer's pack, dungeoneers pack, etc. should not be an aggregate item. Selecting the pack should add the individual items to the character. That way when a character wakes up and finds items from the pack have been stolen, they can easily be removed from the character without having to delete the pack, then re-add the items that are not missing.
Equipment manager is way too basic. Needs better inventory management for characters with multiple containers, like a backpack and a bag of holding. There needs to be a way to assign items to containers so that the 100 pound coil of rope I keep in my bag of holding doesn't cause me to be encumbered.
Equipment page of builder should have ability to quickly add equipment selected from class gear set choices, instead of having to remember what they are and manually search for and add them.
Speed displayed for Aaracokra is incorrect OR Speed penalties for variant encumbrance are not calculating correctly. I made an Aaracokra Monk, level 1 with strength of 13, encumbered at 65, heavily at 130. Carrying a total weight of 86.25 Character sheet shows speed of 20, flight 50. I believe encumbrance should lower all speeds, not just walking speed, but that DM ruling aside, the encumbered Aaracokra should have a speed of 15. Aaracokra base speed 25 - 10 for encumbered = 15.

Don't let a bunch of jerks from almost a hundred years ago ruin a symbol that existed for thousands of years before they used it.

Currently levelling a character down is not allowed. Devs are working on that.
When you add the Staff of Fire into your equipment on your finished character sheet. if says burning hands, fireball, and wall of fire like a million times.

We're pretty good at keeping up - I spent my entire day yesterday reading through every post in these 30+ pages. :)
Wanted to drop a line to say this is heard and we'll be addressing it. We always planned to actually, as it only comes up on desktop views and we haven't done too much on that front yet, as I mentioned in the release notes.
I'd suggest having players choose Background before asking them what skill proficiencies they want for their class. The background ones are set (well, for many players, above poster excepted) while the class proficiencies offer more leeway, leading to situations where players miss out on skills because they choose class ones before being granted the ones that come with their chosen background.
I Second This! I think the order for making your character should be race> abilities> background>class>skills>spells; With the arrows meaning next.I think this would be a lot easier for the newbies.
This is just for future feature ideas but I would love a family tree option for my character. Something simple would help visualize their backstory etc.
Not sure if already mentioned, but all equipment has to be added by hand if you use the standard builder. The option to choose your equipment based off class does not work. This is for the mobile version, I have not tested it on desktop.
The equipment portion of the builder will be reworked, per user feedback. Thank you for reinforcing the need for this to take place! Please let us know if you find any other hardships or inconveniences in your journeys to create your next hero.
