So, for example; i want my character to be able to learn any one 1st level divination spell and cast once per short rest. Currently, i can manually just limit the choice to every divination spell in the game (adding them to the list of possible choices), but that entails updating the list whenever new spells are released.
But they didn't add this kind of filtering for arcane trickster and eldritch knight, and no other official content needs it. So I doubt it will be added anytime soon.
Maybe when they do the homebrew revamp (as of yet no ETA on that) they will add some modifiers and fields that are not needed for official content and is strictly for homebrew.
Revamping this now, because feats like Fey Touched and Shadow touched narrow spell options by both spell school and level, yet incorporate options from all content owned by the user (not just those included in the Basic Rules). Is there any chance we could get this functionality?
More complex, but for subclasses, is there a way to have a changing spell level cap tied to an ability score or proficiency bonus? Thinking like in the Bard College of Spirits, which allows you to temporarily learn a spell from Necromancy or Divination of a level equal to or less than your Proficiency Bonus.

I get what you mean, and I agree.
