Voicing my opinion on this. Could be nice with this feature.
To the devs of dndbeyond, perhaps refactor the way some of these things work behind the scenes so they're packaged in the same format/object as when we do these things via homebrew etc. Also perhaps make spells and custom attacks / custom actions functionally the same such that it's easy to duplicate the behavior in code.
Especially would be nice to be able to have different dice rolls in the custom actions. Just make it based on regex or something and have a syntax that the users will learn. ie. 2d4+1d10+<int>+<PB> meaning 2d4 + 1d10 + int modifier + proficiency bonus
Seems like a dev could fix this really quick. But given that this has been a request for nearly 2 years, I’m guessing there is some massive hack to undo or otherwise some large code restructure needed to fix this simple thing.
OR DnD Beyond just doesn’t care about their users.
Now 2024 and still nothing on this missing feature - the ability to add notes to a custom action. (And indeed, the ability to add notes as part of a homebrew.)
Still an issue. Must be a really, really low priority.
In the Actions section of the character sheet, a user-created Custom Action does not diplay anything in the Notes section of the Attack Actions chart. The frustrating part is that when you create a Custom Action, there IS a box that allows you to add some "Snippet" information (which will appear as a note down deeper into the list of action options, but not in the Attack Actions section), and another box that allows you to add some "Description" information (which will appear in the pop-up sidebar). None of these pieces of information becomes visible in the Notes section of the Attack Actions chart at the top. But at the same time, we can edit any pre-existing Action on the Actions list, and there IS a box available to add some "Notes", and those edits DO become visible.
We can edit an existing spell or weapon action, and change its Attack chart Notes, but can't change the Rolled Die type. We can create a custom action spell or weapon attack, and change its Rolled Die type, but can't change its Attack chart Notes. No matter which method we use, we're always missing something.
Not a game-breaking issue, but it's noticeable and kinda annoying, because the Attack Actions chart is at the very top, so it's the first thing you see when you glance at your character's options.
Nearly 2025 (OCT 2024) and it still seems this hasn't been implemented nor is there a response from anyone in Dndbeyond. Snippet and Description/Notes boxes aren't showing up for custom made actions, reactions, bonus actions, etc. I guess I will just have to plan for an extra 45 minutes so my players can constantly reopen and reread what their abilities and actions do. Yay!
EDIT: Small addition. The snippets appear when you go to the tabs for each of those actions (Action, BA, RA, Other & Limited Use), but under the ATTACK tab this is where the problem persists. Ironically, the tab that most players leave open most of the time.
Please
Please!
This is very much still an issue.
Confirmed, still an issue, still would like this added/fixed also.

Neither are great.

Feb 2025 - this is still an annoying issue.
Everything is low priority when nothing gets done.
Still an issue. would like it to be added.
May 2025 and still the same issue.
*awakens*
Oh, this is still not done, huh...
*goes back to slumber*
