Hello, I don't know If it's not directly stated or if I have looked over it. But I can't seem to find any information on how the 5e system rules damage resistance when a player is hit with a damage that is from two or more damage types. Flame strike is a great example of this with it dealing fire and radiant in one damage roll rather than the radiant and fire being in different dice rolls.
Though I am wanting to use homebrew features into my games where certain spells, abilities, or other objects deal more than just one damage type for that damage roll. So is there a system or an official guideline that I can follow that will help me sort this problem out, because I am still debating whether or not to have someone resistant to one of the damage types to take half because they resist one type, take full damage because of the same reason, or have them take a quarter due to only gaining resistance to half of the damage type(s) thrown at them.
Thank you for taking your time to read my request.
You are way over complicating things for yourself. When you roll the damage for something like Flame Strike, you can roll all the dice for both damage types together, but that is not required at all. If something has resistance to both damage types, or neither damage type, rolling both damages together against that creature makes sense since there is nothing special to track separately. If something has resistance to one of the two damage types, roll those two sets of damage dice separately and apply the creature’s resistance against the appropriate damage type, and do not apply it against the other.

Easy peasy.
