I've created a homebrew spell for use with my character but the spell shows up as "At Will" instead of requiring a spell slot. I can't seem to find where to specify that it should use a spell slot. Can anyone help?
Oh! Interesting. This homebrew spell is part of a homebrew Sorcerous Origins. All the other spells in the Sorcerous Origins (the non-homebrew spells) appear correctly. This one does not. What do I need to do in the Origin to ensure the spell uses a slot?
Then check the subclass,if you added it through "additional specific spells",then please make a post to bugs and feedback as this is a glitch. If not, track down the feature in which you gain it through a part of the feature called "spells" then we have to sort through that.
I added it in "Additional Specific Spells" as well as added it to the Spells feature. This class is using the Abberant Mind origin as the template so I followed that as a guide. I wonder if the two sections are colliding and causing a problem?
I don't understand what the issue is then. For example, Dissonant Whispers is listed in the Spells section and it shows up as requiring a spell slot. Why does my homebrew spell not?
Is dissonant whispers in the same set of spells as the homebrew spell. If so,I have no idea wtf is happening. If not, then the issue is with the spell set that contains the homebrew spell.
Either way, because it's also under "additional homebrew spells" we can get rid of it's spell section and It would never matter.

So I discovered the difference between adding the spells as a Feature and adding them as "Additional Spells". The Sorcerous Origins I was created automatically grants the spells to the player as a known spell, so they need to be part of the Spells section. If you add them to the Additional Spells section, they become available to "learn" if the player wants them when they level up, they are not automatically granted as known spells.

How did you receive the spell, because the reason it's at will has nothing to do with the spell.

I created the subclass and spell last night. It's definitely been longer than 10 minutes.
Then check the subclass,if you added it through "additional specific spells",then please make a post to bugs and feedback as this is a glitch. If not, track down the feature in which you gain it through a part of the feature called "spells" then we have to sort through that.

In that case, you can delete the one under the spells feature and get on with it.Then wait ten minutes and reload, and your issue should be fixed.

Okay, I think we're getting somewhere. When you say "spell set" what are you referring to? Perhaps the spell itself isn't set up correctly...
There are kinda two ways of adding an expanded spell list.
You can do it where it says "additional specific spells" under the basic information (the way your supposes to do it I believe) like this:
Or you can, under the expanded spell list feature, add spells with the "spells" modifier, like this:
If you use the second option, you will have to change the "consumes a spell slot" drop down from "no" to "yes"
(sorry, it's hard to make out the yes and the no there)

That's exactly what I was looking for! I totally missed the "Consumes a Spell Slot" option when adding the spell. Thank you!!
No problem, happy to help!
